is my DPC3825 compatible with the 50m tier?

I was just wondering if my current gateway is okay to use with the 50meg service.  I am thinking about upgrading to the 50meg tier. or would I need new equipment? and on a side note, does that "$5 more for 6months" tier upgrade promo require a contract of any sort? thanks for any info.
