internet access, but no dns server addresses in router
my netgear x8 R8500 can pul an ip address from cox and give me internet, but no dns addresses show up in the router.

If you can access the net & get proper address resolution, it's a router issue, not Cox. I suggest contacting Netgear with the question. I have a Netgear R6700 but use OpenDNS, not Cox's servers. I do see my manually entered DNS server addresses it the status screen.
