I have digital ready TV's, Do I still need a Mini Box?
I have digital ready TV's, Do I still need a Mini Box? All my TV's are newer and get the analog and digital channels that are available on Cox already. Do I really need a Mini Box? Also, Cox should do a one hour cut over to all digital sometime soon so we can test our TV. When are they going to do that?

Yes, you will need Mini-Boxes. The digital channels will be encrypted. Your TV will not decode them unless it has a CableCARD.

Cox didn't do a "one hour test" in my market ... or if the did they didn't publicize it. There is nothing to test on your TV. As Domino said, all channels will be encrypted and can't be accessed without additional hardware. After the cut-off date, stations just disappeared and it required a minibox, cable card, or STB to access them. Now everything is gone from the straight cable and a box/card is required to get anything.
