Hooking up Blue Ray Streaming entertainment

I am trying to hook up my new Sony Blue Ray/Wireless Streaming player (Netflicks, etc).  I plugged the HDMI cable into the player and then into the back of my Cox Receiver (DVR). There was only one place to plug the HDMI wire into each box.  The power comes on the blue ray player, but I have no idea what to do now. Nothing happens. The instructions say there should be an INput Selector to show the signal from the player to the TV, but I don't see any input selection on my cable box receiver.

If anyone has any ideas how to even get this started, I would greatly appreciate it.

What model blu-ray? You don't want to plug HDMI from cable box to blu-ray. You want to plug the blu-ray into the TV as per the instructions. Then you can change the input on the TV to match that plug you used on the TV.

This really doesn't have anything to do with Cox. I can still try to help, but your better off calling the Sony, or trying their support forum here: http://community.sony.com/t5/Blu-ray-Players-Home-Systems/ct-p/blu-ray

You were right, thank you. My Blu ray instructions showed hooking it up both ways, but I did the tv to the player, and its working. Thank you!

It did? Oh, my apologies then. I thought you were maybe going by Cox instructions that came with the cable box. Glad I was able to help anyway :-)

I have 2 Sony blu-ray players and neither manual has information on connection via a cable box.  They both show how to connect it directly to a tv & through an AVR to a tv.  No DVR I know of has an HDMI input.

That's odd, since the HDMI port on the DVR is an output, not an input. It's for connecting the output of the DVR to the input of the TV.
