I recent tried to access the history channel app to catch up on some shows. Cox is no longer on the list as a provider on the cable systems list. What up with that? It was working.

I too request that the History Channel be added, or re-added as appropriate.

Thank you for taking the time to post! I have submitted a request to add the History Channel app to our list of supported mobile apps on behalf of you both.

So how useful and timely is the programming request that the Cox Support Forums Moderator keeps submitting? I have seen posts from over a year ago referencing the problem that these applications are not being made available by Cox, whilst every single other provider has made it available. Based on these forums, Cox is giving off the perception of blowing off its customers and not resolving the issue. To state that it costs money for the provider to make these apps available is an offensive response especially when every competitor is offering the service at the same or lesser rate than Cox. To the Cox moderator, sure, submit my programming request but I want you to know I will be filing an official request myself as well as informing my local area news team, WAVY News 10 for Hampton Roads, Virginia so they can also enlighten consumers in my area.

Why would you be contacting the press? Cox has every right to offer, or not offer, any programing they wish IMO. I think its wise to contact someone to make another request, but I don't see why the news would care.

Channel lineup requests and requests for access to mobile apps is actually very useful, as it provides our program managers with direct feedback when it comes time to choosing the products and services our customers want.
One thing to keep in mind is that when mobile apps like the History Channel and even CBS first became available, they were available for free to everyone. Broadcasters began requiring authenticated access when they realized they could charge cable and satellite providers so that their customers could have access to the app content. It was at this time that users were asked to pick from a list of providers and sign into the app.
I believe this is what happened with the History Channel app and why users were able to access it before without having to go through any authentication process. Our Content Acquisition team is working to restore access for Cox customers.

Not to beat a dead horse, but am I correct in assuming that content acquisition can only happen during certain periods when content provider opens negotiations? Or can it happen at any time?
Its too bad Cox can't offer some kind of package with internet with no cable but with access to all the online streaming. Would give the Sales rep something to offer to cord cutters.

Somehow A&E has every cable provider in the universe (I'm talking 400-500 providers) listed on its registration website, but not Cox. I looked at a previous forum and it said that Cox has to pay for this service and such, yet this person above says they HAD access.
Not to mention the fact that I have access to nearly every other app channel on Apple TV so why not A&E / History ect.?
This is obviously a website error or some kind of mild oversight that is affecting probably MILLIONS of customers, yet it seems no one has done anything about it for over a year.
Here is the test: do these forums really work? Will this get your millions of customers anywhere? Or will those at the other end refuse to do anything but give us a placating answer? I am curious to find out.
Thanks for you time, and I am sure that tons of your customers would appreciate someone going the extra mile on this one.
Have a wonderful day!

I disagree. I think Cox already pays AE for another package they offer, so Cox doesn't want to pay twice for the same content. This is a money issue. I don't know if AE is doing it to everyone, or just Cox, but it looks like Cox is one of the few who won't budge. This isn't a technical problem, so none of the moderators here can do anything other then pass on the request. I agree the situation is messed up, but I wouldn't base my opinions of a whole forum based on one post.

I agree, every other cable provider know to man is listed, why can't Cox get their act together and provide access to the history channel app.
