Has Cox email been hacked or security compromised?

If so, please notify us ASAP. Is anyone from Cox answering questions here? Why isn't the outage posted on the main page? We have been out in Southwestern Virginia so long that the local TV stations are covering the story.

look at the email thread instead of starting a new thread.  They have been slow with updating/response but they have been there

There is no information about whether email has been hacked or security has been compromised, which is why I started this thread.

Every few hours someone from Cox posts a "not yet, in X hours" post on this forum in a new thread.  But they never provide any information about what is wrong and if email is permanently lost.

No one from Cox is providing anything. I know for sure business are having issues. Also Cox's own virus protector quit working yesterday >>>>>

Thank you for at least that bit of information, Cindy. It's really troubling that Cox antivirus went down and that makes me wonder if personal information has been compromised.

@Support Needed - I completely agree.  This was one reason that besides upgrading to Windows 8, that I also go with a dedicated Kaspersky  Internet Security Suite instead of redownloading and hopefully having an up-to-date McAfee Cox Internet Security Suite Protection.  Imo, Kaspersky works a heck of a lot better, and it doesn't start annoying me half the time, either.  I was looking either at Kaspersky or Trend Micro eventually anyway.

The webmail is out in Ohio also.  I did not know it until today when I tried to get into Webmail. There was an alert on the mail page.

WSLS television is reporting that Cox believes no personal or secure information was compromised. Let's hope that's correct. News of this is all over the internet.

It is interesting that Suddenlink.net has experienced the same sort of outage and is still not up. A coincidence?

Why isn't anyone at Cox answering this extremely important question?

I   would hope they notify us if personal info. has been compromised.....I also would expect all of us to see a credit on our next bill.  I do not have any other means of accessing my email and I';m in the midst of settling on a house out of state.   This has been extrememly inconvenient.  Not happy about this at all.

When this sort of crash occurs......the obvious stated: In my own words and my own opinion:

The servers were compromised, by whatever means...hacking or otherwise. This isn't "Technical Difficulties", this is an attack. It's more than likely hackers from outside the U.S. hired by our enemies, in an effort to expose some weaknesses in the America side of the internet. Speculating further....A more serious problem may be forthcoming.

If Cox 'knew' what the problem is, and could state it, they would, which leads me to believe they don't know what the problem is, cannot correct it, and will coverup, and offer breaks for loosing any archived mail, and loss of current mail.

I'm not blaming Cox. The problem may or may not be a lack of the seerver redundancy. It might be a very scary scenario, where some hackers have developed a really powerful virus, and tested it in this neck of the woods, as a prelude for knocking down another sector, like............the DOD

I don't know about the rest of you, but my e-mail has been out for over 12 hours.

My question is has my e-mail been hacked or anything, do I need to be worried about online banking?

Is my computer at risk too?

Will I be getting credited for the Down Time?
