Forward Voice Mail Messages to eMail?

Automatic forwarding of voice mail messages to an email account is a feature that is supposed to be included with my Cox telephone service.  I have been trying to get this to work since mid-January, and have contacted technical services several times.  They continue to tell me they are working on it, and will get back to me soon.

I can't understand how a feature that is supposed to be included in my monthly service, can remain broken for over 2 1/2 months (so far.)

Is anybody using this feature successfully?

By any chance do you get the voice mail indicator light on your phones when you have messages?

I don't have any indicator lights on my phone, but I do get the "stutter tone" that tells me I have messages waiting.

VickiL,

Are you referring to the new Readable Voice Mail feature? It was just recently launched but is not in all markets. A trial took place in the Arkansas/Kansas/Nebraska/Idaho markets earlier this year. It is scheduled to launch to all markets next month. If this is the feature to which you are referring, let me know and I can assist.

No.

Once upon a time, before they did a major "upgrade" to the phone system last year, I had the ability to have voice mail messages forwarded automatically to my email as an MP3 attachment.  According to my features list, I should still have that ability, but it doesn't work.  I reported this and have been trying to get it fixed since mid-January.  Apparently, it is a mystery to everyone in tech support.

I'm really very disappointed in Cox right now.

VickiL,

Let me look into this and report back to you.

VickiL,

I just spoke to the product team and we did offer the ability to get an mp3 attachment on the old system; however, on our new system we have only allowed .wav formats. The reason they say is that .mp3 cannot be used for voice transcription due to lower quality (it is a compressed format). The only supported format to get high quality audio and transcription is .wav.

What type of device are you using to play voice mail? Some of the older android versions had an issue with some .wav formats but this has been corrected on the newer Android OS versions. I am told that if you upgrade your operating system (OS) , it should play the .wav format.

Hope this helps and I apologize for any inconvenience.

It doesn't matter to me whether it's an mp3 file, or a wav file.  I don't get either delivered to my email. (I have tried it for different email addresses that I own, and it is not going to any spam folders - it just doesn't go anywhere!)

I have called in again, and this has been elevated through the Cox system.  I find it hard to believe that the problem is isolated to my phone only?  A Cox specialist is coming to my house tomorrow to check out the wiring, & telephone units.

This doesn't make sense to me because the messages are being saved in the voice mail system, and they are playing back properly, they just aren't being forwarded like I want them to be.  I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with the set up at my house.

After reading the posts on this thread, I decided to try this feature for myself.  I am in the Tulsa service area and found that this feature works perfectly.  I'm not sure which Cox market you're in.  However, if you are in the Tulsa area, then there is something wrong at the Cox head end.

I hope you get this problem resolved soon.
