Had the same issue watching any games not broadcasted on ESPN3. Spent an hour on the phone to find out that I now need to TV contract (only had internet) to watch the others on SEC Network, ESPNNEWS, etc. So lame......guess they are fighting back on us cable cutters.

If you don't pay Cox to watch ESPN, why would they let you watch ESPN online? No free lunch and all that. Been that way for years,

Incorrect.
ESPN3/WatchESPN have been available as a streaming service for Cox Internet customers for years (no TV contract required). This is how I had typically watched most college football games. Now that they have broken up the games across the various sub-networks such as SEC Network and ESPNNews, we can no longer stream those games without a TV contract. This is a change this year and probably an attempt to get people to sign back up for expensive TV plans.
The games listed specifically as "ESPN3" still stream but these are sub-tier games. Bet there will be a bunch of similar angry posts come Saturday.....
Also, it's not about a free lunch. It called an incentive that Cox offers so you signup and pay for their internet service as opposed to the DSL provider down the street. They have just scaled back that incentive this year sadly.
Local sports bar at 8am Saturday here I come.
