Email speed

Now then, I find it funny (or not) that I pay 55$ a month for internet that includes email.  YET, the email service that is included in my PAID internet service is SO SLOW that I can actually open a new page and check my mail from my gmail account in the time it takes my COX webmail to load.  Does anyone else have this issue?

What do you mean it's slow? The page isn't loading? ww2.cox.com is horrible. I think they had some 3rd party design it and the coding is just bad. Are you getting hung up there or after signing in?

The issue is going from the WW2.cox..... page to webmail via the link after signing in.

The page takes FOREVER to load.

Is it this link? https://idm.east.cox.net/coxlogin/ui/webmail

Are you signing into classic or enhanced webmail. Enhanced takes longer to load because it has to load a flash applet. Are you seeing a slow progress bar in the middle as the page slowly loads? If so thats enhanced, and it may help to update your flash and make sure your AV isn't blocking anything.

If your trying to use classic webmail, then im not sure why that would be taking so long to load. Whats forever? 10 seconds? 30? Also, on the bottom of the browser, it will usually tell you what part its stuck on, see anything there?

If worst comes to worst, you can always configure a client like outlook on your computer and we can help with that. Let us know.

"Waiting for webmail.west.cox.net" is where it hangs at.  And I am using classic.  Enhanced literally took minutes  Right now I am seeing anywhere from 15 seconds to a full minute.  I can sign in to cox mail, open a new tab, open gmail to check that and then come back to the cox mail tab and it still hasn't loaded in....  I'm not interested in a client.  I am interested in webmail that doesn't act like it is from the 80's running at 1400baud.

Ok, sorry, those the only solutions I have for you. I can't replicate the problem, so it's either a local issue, a network issue, or a PC issue. Good luck.

This is not an unusual problem at all.  For 5 years I have paid for high speed Internet and Cox webmail is just as BygDon says.  It is slow on my PC, my laptops,, tablet, and every other computer I have used.  I use the Cox web client so I can access it from anywhere, but it takes so long to bring up emails.  Don't even think of using the search tool unless you are going out or coffee.  Cox must be using 1990s servers and technology.  A company like Cox, who promotes how fast they are, falls way down in service to this chronic email problem.  Speed it up please.

Exactly like RoadWriter777  said.  There is not a single internet enabled device that I have that makes webmail from cox any quicker than molasses during the winter time in the Arctic circle.

Is there any noticeable difference when switching between the Classic or Enhanced views for Webmail or if it is worse at specific times more so then others?

I also use classic(forget enhanced you have to have all day to have it open) I went in and deleted almost my entire stored emails, thinking that would speed me up, NOPE!!!! My husband and I both have new laptops and your customer service had the gall to tell us we could pay cox to trouble shoot our devices . I DON'T THINK so. Quite frankly my DSL at my office runs quite fast and I like others can open gmail, Hotmail, and a host of others email accounts regardless of how many emails it has to load up way faster than cox. I did not want to have outlook and store all that ** on my computer so thought Cox would be a good alternative. . . I was wrong and there is nothing wrong with either  of our 2 new laptops. It is a problem with WEBMAIL. Someone needs to take Us seriously, we don't write in or call because we have nothing better to do. I need to get on -check my emails and reply and read the next I don't have the hour it is now taking to do that. I was very insulted, When we first signed on with cox something like 12 yrs. ago it was fine and fast, something has happened to your WEBMAIL response this yr. 2013. Please this is  true and also several of my neighbors around me say the same thing . They call Cox and are told what I was told, "pay us money and we will see what is wrong with your device. REALLY, we do pay you money it was $55.00  monthly and has now gone up to $62.00 that is paying you plenty to keep your webmail running. Research this and get back to all of us. I can ask my neighbors to get online and flood this thread with the same complaint and that would be a boatload of complaining or you could listen to the rest of us and as you can see we all have the same complaint. PLEASE RESOLVE IT.  I'm actually praying for another cable co to compete with COX so I can have an alternative. DSL is looking better all the time, not so many use it and it runs pretty smooth . What other reason would I have to stay if my email doesn't work. Also while we are at it. Allow us more Block Senders than currently available. I thought COX was suppose to weed out all this spam. There gets to be so Much I have used Up all my block senders available. And I hit spam a lot.

Thanks

and hope you can fix this big problem

yes a difference --enhanced is dysfunctional and classic is slower than watching grass grow. Would love to use enhanced, but afraid I would grow old just reading emails.

Hi peggy,

I know it has to be frustrating it can be to deal with slow loading email pages.  Does this happen with different web browsers as well?  I am not sure what you are currently using, but I can recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.  So far as the Blocked Senders, that is actually for unwanted email from specific individuals. That is not a good way to try spam blocking.  The best way to handle that would be to use the Spam button in the Inbox, this does 2 things at once - 1) reports the message as spam 2) removes it from your Inbox.
