my gateway modem crashed and reboot so many time when I runs dual stack as IPv4 and IPv6. I would like to get firmware patch to fix the gateway modem lockup issues?

Hi, can you provide some additional information? What brand/model gateway do you have? Is this device your own equipment or rented from Cox?

I looked at your modem and it appears to already be running the most current approved firmware.

after I turned IPv6 on by checked a box under the windows 7 network settings and that IPv6 runs on autoconfigure mode, and the gateway modem kept crashing and rebooting for unknown reasons. after I turned IPv6 off by unchecked box under the network settings and the gateway modem returned to normal operation. what's going on with that my gateway modem?

I can't think of any reason that would be happening and I haven't seen any other reports of this.  Does this happen on any other devices?

I have none of other devices. just one computer that connect to my gateway modem. since you are unable to think of it something else. could be bug? or maybe could be firmware bug? that is related to the IPv6 issues.

I suspect if it was a firmware bug all customers with that device would also be experiencing problems which doesn't appear to be the case.  You can try resetting the gateway to factory defaults and set the PC to auto-configure and see if that helps.

I decided to do about dhcpmediasense issue under netsh that I'd address this problem, I disabled dhcpmediasense under the netsh command for both ipv4 and ipv6 of protocols since I'm on IPv4 static IP connected to the gateway router. now it looks working now that seems like that stay on without seeing a duration time out on ipconfig display over IPv6 status. now IPv6 working. UPDATE: argh. gateway failed. I think that gateway failed to work to stay in stable. I think that gateway firmware needs a new upgrade to handle IPv6 packets from the LAN computers with IPv6 enabled.

gateway firmware needs a patch upgrade update to address the gateway freezing and rebooting each so many times when running a IPv6 enabled.

I'll keep that IPv6 disabled until the gateway stability is been addressed by firmware patch to handle the IPv6 packet routing when running a dual networking stack a same time simultaneously.

I'm not aware of any firmware problem that would explain what you're seeing.  If you continue to experience problems it may be time to see about arranging for a technician to come troubleshoot further.

Chris, good luck with this post. Came over to Cox forum because no one would respond on DSLR.

I say ditch the gateway and go with modem/router. Gateway firmware is a mess enough without IPv6.
