Dell Laptop -have a wi-fi connection, but says it's unable to connect to the internet

Hi, I've been messing with this for two weeks now. I see someone else with a Dell laptop is having the same problem. I did call a couple weeks ago, i was eventually xfered to level 2 support and told this is an known issue and has something to do with a windows update that went in in the middle of August. I have no idea if this is true, I feel it was just to get me off the phone without fixing my problem. I did a system restore and it didn't work, so I assume it isn't really the issue. If this is true, can I get the name of the update that is causing the problem so I may remove it manually. My LAN connection works, it's just WiFi that isn't working.

Also, I did all of the mcaffee fixes suggested thinking that might be it. I seriously have 5 hours into trying to fix this and I'm not exactly a novice.

Model of your Laptop? Could be a possible incompatibility with the WiFi card, Might have to go into modem and disable Wireless N and back it to Wireless G/B

i had the same problem with a hp laptop as well as agate wate desktop. it is indead a windows update that was released around the time you started having the problem. if u remember the day or the app day that you started having the problem you can do a microsoft restore and take your computer back beyound when u was having the problem and it usally fixs the problem. if not the only way to fix it is to do a complete restore.
