Delete an invalid web mail sign-on e-mail address
I once signed on to Cox web mail and mistyped the last letter. The connection was refused of course but that incorrect email address remains when I type the first character and a list of my email addresses is displayed. I would like to delete the incorrect email address from displaying when the valid email addresses are displayed. I am using the Classic WebMail if that matters. I have deleted all cookies and that did not help.

Hi dansb, which Internet browser are you using? In general, when using Webmail uncheck the box labled "Remember User ID."

I am using Firefox 31.0 on a Mac Air 11".
I did try to uncheck Remember User ID and sign in with the bad email address which of course was rejected but the invalid email address remains.
I'm surprised that deleting all cookies did not help. Where is this data kept?

I think Macs use a system called Keychain to remeber system passwords. Try removing it from that.

I believe I reset all Firefox settings via Prefs > Privacy > Clear History (forms and search). I also looked into Keychain (for the first time) and did not see any entry that hinted at Firefox or Cox. Nothing has worked so far and I may just learn to live with it. Thank you all for trying.

The next time it gives you the auto fill option user the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight it and press delete on the keyboard and see if it that removes it. You do not want to click it as it will select it instead.

Certainly cleaver and interesting ideas but no luck so far.
I cleared the entire Firefox history but that is a list of web sites and not specific data so I was not surprised when it did not work.
Deleting the highlighted bad e-mail was very interesting but again, had no effect.
I also tested turning the internet connection off and entering the first letter of the email address. Same problem which shows that Cox is not saving the data on its server and downloading it to me when I type the first letter of the email address.

Try this? You can select each application you want to reset password data for. Or you can check everything and nuke it.
If that doesn't work, maybe try uninstalling the browser entirely and reinstalling?
