cox remotes suitable for smart tv

We can do all functions with the Cox Cable remote to play a DVD, but when you want to watch television again and turn off the DVD , you get a screen that asks if you want to open inputs. We need the Magic Remote to get back to Cox Communications from that menu. We would like to do this using a Cox remote if possible. The TV is in a resort rental and needs to have simple functions. We don't need to change input when we start the DVD, but do when we want to return to cable programming.
