1) Caller ID services purchased by Cox customers is "HONESTLY" expected to provide exactly as is "CLEARLY" stated in the words, "Caller ID' and that is to identify the caller. When a call is "masked", Cox provides the false telephone information that the "Masked" caller wants us to deceptively receive and not the caller information that we are paying for!
2) Although I do not currently have the feature, my understanding is that with another feature, after receiving a call, a Cox subscriber can dial something like *69 and again expect to direct a call directly to the number from which that call was made. I was told by a Cox representative that if the original call was made from a "masked" number, the "masked" number would be recalled, not the actual calling number! Why not the actually "Caller" as advertised?
"SERIOUS QUESTION" - If this situation persists and I continue to keep bothering another party to the point of harassing them because of misinformation provided by Cox, is Cox a responsible party to perhaps a suit against me for harassment? I would think so because Cox refuses to try to correct the situation!!!
I believe with the telephone technology we have today, Cox (and other Communication companies) could identify the actual calling number, at least abusive ones but they refuse because of the money they are receiving from the "Masked" callers!!!
Question 1: Is Cox being honest in selling these features by advising their subscribers and "prospective" subscribers (in advance) of these "faults" with the product they are selling and making a profit from? "Fault" that "significantly" lessens the quality and value of the product being sold!!!
Question 2: When these "Masked" calls reach a point of "CLEARLY" being "obviously and without question" harassing, "Why" does Cox even then refuse to assist "their Customer" other than telling them to lodge a complaint with police?
COMMENT: Cox and other Communication companies, if ,having any concern for their customers, could, in addressing these problems, do so without notifying their customers of the identity of the abusive companies in order to take their concern for their privacy (which they do not deserve) out of the picture.privacy. Their only concern could be and "should be" for "acceptable customer service, which their customers pay for and deserve!!!
Question 3: Is the answer to all of these questions merely - PROFITS? In all honesty, that adds up just like 2 and 2 equal 4.
Question 4: Have we reached the point with our telephone technology that the providing of residential or individual service has become of far less concern to communication companies as compared to the point of not only showing more concern for their business businesses but assisting them in their conspiracies used against the individual or residential consumer?
Question 5: Are Caller ID, the other feature I referred to, and probably other features, Cox is selling, being seriously diluted in value to the consumer? Is the customer receiving value for their dollar?
I would appreciate any thoughts on this subject, especially other Cox phone subscribers!!!!

Not actually a reply but an addition by the writer who after giving Cox time to comment, intends sending a complaint to Senator John McCain on the matter of abusive and harassing calling by disreputable companies, "lip service" government help by the name of a "No Call List" that never has worked favorably, and the refusal of communication companies to not only refuse to provide adequate customer service but even more importantly act in more of a way to reflect themselves as a party to the deceptive actions that consumers are irresponsibly be subjected to, obviously merely - for profit. Copies of my posts and any others will be attached.!

I've been getting harassed by one specific telemarketer for weeks. These calls seem to originate from different states with different phone numbers, but I know that not to be true. I’m fairly certain that this telemarketer is using Caller ID Spoofing technology. Yesterday I received 5 calls from this company. They set a record this past Monday by calling me NINE times.
It sounds like you and I might be dealing with the same problem! The only difference, I imagine, is that I’m being harassed through my Verizon cell phone number and you’re receiving calls to your Cox landline phone number. Unfortunately, there is very little that Cox or any other phone provider can do to help us determine the true identity of these callers.
The Caller ID (CID) info displayed when you receive an incoming call is dependent on the type of phone system used to originate the call. If the call originates on a standard “plain old telephone” line (analog), the Caller ID is provided (if available) by the local switch and in most cases cannot be altered by the caller. (The caller may have and use the option to block his or her Caller ID info completely.) If the call is placed using Voice Over Internet Protocol rather than through analog signal transmission, the caller may have the ability to alter or change the Caller ID information.
Caller ID is not a regulated service like Call Tracing. If bad CID info gets passed to Cox (or, in my case, Verizon), there’s no way to verify or validate the accuracy of the CID data received with each call. Such a system was simply never put into place by the telecommunications industry. Because of the many ways that calls can be routed through landline switching centers, cellular networks, and internet telephone protocols, Caller ID information is not something totally within the control of one individual telephone provider.
