Since last night, just after midnight, my Cox Internet has been down six times for a total of 4 hours. Can you tell me if some server maintenance work has been going on? See table below for time frames and durations.
Thanks,
Robert C.

I looked from this end and I do see an outage linked to your account with a technician assigned. I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

My Internet access was down again last night. This time for 8 hours. I use a service call Uptime Robot and it notified me that the "Cox Server" was not responding. So that would imply the problem is on the Cox end!
Example:
The monitor Cox Internet Host Name (ip ipXX-XXX-XXX-XXX.lv.lv.cox.net) is back UP (Host Is Reachable) (It was down for 7 minutes and 20 seconds).
The monitor Cox Internet Host Name (ipXX-XXX-XXX-XXX.lv.lv.cox.net) is currently DOWN (Host Is Unreachable).
My Internet access continues to go up and down this morning. Here are some of the cable modem log entries. I'm using a Netgear CM500 cable modem:

Thanks,

Looking at the modem's uptime count it looks like it rebooted recently however other than that I'm not seeing anything that would indicate a problem. You might be able to try testing without the router and see if that produces different results.
