Seeing as the forums are experienced severe lag as I type this, I thought I would post my work around. It doesn't work every time, but its work a lot. All you do is wait 10 seconds after attempting to load a forum page, and then press Stop/Escape. What this does is allow enough time for the HTML/webpage to load but stopping before the javascript causes the page to hang.
Also, are their any moderators around? Would be nice to have one admit that the problem at least exist. All you have to do is do a CSS validation, which should have been done before the site even went live, to see the problems. See here. Could a moderator please advise?

It works once in awhile, but the underlying issue is DNS not responding on the rackspace servers. it's extremely pathetic that an INTERNET COMPANY can't have reliable service on their OWN SITE and even worse that they have known about it for so long, and the buffoons at Rackspace haven't been able to resolve it.

What makes you think it's a DNS issue? How would that manifest in the symtoms that we are seeing? If it was a DNS issue, why would the escape/stop trick work?
And I am not here to point fingers, only to open the technical discussion of the problem.

Tiffany, can you confirm if you, or any of the moderators are seeing the problem? Or do you have some different kind of access to the forum?

I am very confident that the tech support team will quickly fix this problem. We have been assured that since mid-November they have been keenly at work fixing the email server issue. PATHETIC!!!!!

Actually I brought this up on this forum over a year ago. Notice I say in the topic "again" so thats not even my first post, but the post is so old, I don't think it's even on the forum anymore.
Should not take a year to fix a website IMO. Seems to be either someone can't fix it, or they don't want to. I wouldn't mind if someone from Cox said "Hey we know the forum is not stable, but there isn't much we can do". That would be honest and straightforward in my opinion. Other wise, don't go through the effort of making an another ticket if Corporate is just going to throw it back. I don't mean this as an attack on you, for I am sure you are doing everything within your power. Just calling a spade a spade. :-)

I want to try this. I have been unable to get the forum pages to load recently. Maybe 1 out of 3 attempts fail in the last 2 weeks. It is nice to hear that i am not alone. Otherwise i would be tempted to check my computer and browser for 15 minutes to locate the problem.

You basically need to get rackspace to reprovision a new server for the fourms. I suspect it's on an old crappy server. Frankly I'm surprised at Rackspace, with their good reputation for handling very large and famous companies' websites. The service on this relatively small forum should not be as pathetic as it is. You say you re-submit tickets to them about the performance, well they need to actually get off their lazy patoots and put your forum on a better server. I can't count the times I've tried to get to the forum in the last 6 months and couldn't because rackspace's internal DNS was timing out. It really is bad and someone needs to have their pay docked or be fired at rackspace for allowing this pathetic performance of their servers and hosting to go on. And someone higher than forum admins at Cox needs to be made aware of these ongoing issues, because obviously you guys have tried over and over and the results haven't changed. The epitome of insanity is what...? Someone else needs to have a go at this.
