Cox Cable DVR List - Software Changes

Who did this and Why?  Recent changes in the way the DVR list shows up on the screen are miserable.  After the most recent software update, the DVR list is a nauseating mess of text and drop down menus that fly off the screen left and right, every time you make a selection.

If you happen to move through the list of what you have recorded and want to watch pretty quickly as I do, it is nauseating to watch the screen rapidly sliding off to the side before the next menu is displayed.

Please change this back to the way it was before.  No one cares that you can make the text fly around.  There is no added value in this for the end consumer.  It is merely a gimmick that creates a sickening sensation, and some of us find it very annoying.

Hello Leessss,

I can certainly understand your frustration. We value all of our customers feedback and I will forward your suggestion to our programming team.

This only affects Passport users - a dying breed.

No, just to clarify, I do not have Passport.  I have Contour and the DVR package that records up to 6 shows at once, and am located in Santa Barbara.  This problematic software update just happened within the past couple weeks.

Also changed at the same time, when you go to the regular program guide and the show's title is too long to fit in the box, when you highlight that box the title begins to scroll so you can see the entire program name.  That is a change that makes sense to me.  No problem there.

But the DVR List of recorded programs that flings itself off the side of the screen every time you make a selection as you work your way through the drop down menus... that is miserable.

I'm in San Diego and use Trio (Contour.) I have seen no changes.

I'm in San Diego and this new effect with the guide started today.  It's completely sickening, I need a Dramamine just to watch TV.  Cox, please give us the option to go back to the way it was.   This is not good.

I've been playing with the new Contour update for a few hours, and say:

1. The screens are all the same. They just exit differently than before (when they just disappeared.) They now transition to the side. It just slows things down. I ignore the transitions and just continue with the next window. I don't know what "drop down menus" the OP was referring to. I see none.

2. The new "scrolling" of long program titles is even more useless. The full program title appears on the line immediately above the guide. Again, waiting for the "scrolling" to stop just slows things down.

3. One change that I really like is changing the background color from a powder-blue to a darker blue on things such as the guide date change page. The white graphics are much easier to read with the new darker blue background.

Of course, most of the "suggestions" of actual Contour customers were ignored in favor of flashy gimmicks.
