Cost increase and nothing much left to take off the bill

I have been a customer of Cox for over 20 years.  I am now down to just internet service to maintain a decent bill.  I am so frustrated by Cox and their constant increases for fewer services.  If you are a new customer, promos are fantastic.  You don't seem to care about the customers who have been loyal to you.  $5 off? ...after a $20 increase in my internet bill?  I have now removed the phone again to keep the bill lower.  My internet was 25 Mbps speeds $44.  I was doing just fine.  Cox says we are doubling the speed 50!  I did not ask for it, but got socked with the increase in price as well. Now $62!  No phone....dropped the cable TV...now just internet and I am up to half of the bill I used to have for 3 services.  It is like you find a way to get it all back and do not care about the customers who have been with you quite a while and want to remain loyal customers.  Everyone says you have to play the game... drop the service completely and then come back in 4 to 6 months in order to get best pricing.  Why is that?  What purpose does that serve?  Why does Cox make you do this to get the better rates?  Seriously, is that what I have to do?  Is this some type of problem with Cox being able to change it up?  Thank you.
