Does Contour guide use time frame for recording or does it record on some key associated with program name?
Question is prompted by terminology of missed recordings saying “program not found in guide”. Makes me wonder why didn’t it just record what ever was in that time frame no matter what the program was?
If it matters this is on a record 6 DVR, Cisco 9865HDC.

I have gotten this "not found in guide" message many times. Of course, the program was in the guide or i wouldn't have chosen it. Contour does not allow us to scroll back in time to see if another show replaced the one we wanted; which is what must have happened. So i am guessing that the box is recording based on the program name. It would be interesting to see if a Manual Recording for this same time slot would have recorded the show. Often the manual recordings show up as "Untitled" in the DVR list.
I just recently got 2 "missed recordings" which said " show could not be recorded because it conflicted with one of your favorite shows". I don't have any "favorite shows". I was recording 2 other shows at that time but the Contour is able to record 6 at the same time. The next day i was able to record all 3 at that time slot.

What show title, time, and channel shows in your missed recording? What is the series options set for this show?

Which titles are in your missed recordings? Which other shows were scheduled to record during this time?

StephanieA,
Show missed was “Hear my song” on CBS channel 3 on 4/16/16 from 8pm to midnight. No series set for this show or any others (series section empty). Honestly can’t recall if any others were set to record during that time, but if at all maybe one or two at most.
Also, how would these questions relate to my question which was:
“Does Contour guide use time frame for recording or does it record on some key associated with program name?”

I found articles that CBS pulled this from the schedule and repeats of NCIS: New Orleans and Criminal Minds aired in it's place. The DVR is associated with the title of the recording and not the air time unless the air time is set specific in the recording options.

Yak,
I want to check your tuners to make sure you don't have one that is bad. Can you power on your DVR and hit the swap button at least 6 times or more? You should get a picture each time you hit the swap button. Let me know what happens.

Thanks StephanieA,
That answers my question about recording on title instead of time frame. However I cannot find anyway to set for specific air time in recording options, only able to add or remove minutes from beginning or ending of record time. As it turns out there was 1 minute added to beginning of this recording and it didn’t cause switch from title to air time priority.

The Airtimes option is used for programming a Series Recording. When you first set up a Series Recording, you can choose to record All Showings of a specific show, or you can choose only to record those that run at a specific time. You can view and modify your Series Recording options within the Series Manager by clicking the DVR List button on your remote, and then choosing Series Manager.

Thanks Becky,
I see that is an option in Series Recording, just not an option with standard single event recording.

The Airtimes option isn't available when recording a single event. It's predetermined based on the event you have chosen to record from the Guide.

@StephanieA. I never knew i had a Swap button until you mentioned it. I turned on the DVR and hit the Swap button 10 times. I got a picture every time. It would rotate between the 3 shows i was recording and the one i was watching. Interestingly, i read your response at 3:10 pm which is the exact time when i had the previous problem with the 3rd show not recording. This time all 3 shows were being recorded.
To be exact, i got a picture the first 5 times i pushed Swap. The 6th time, nothing happened (it stayed on the same picture). Then it worked 3 of the next 4 times.

Have you found this to be a repeated issue when attempting to attempt to re-record the program Crime Watch Daily?
