Connecting to an employers VPN - error message "Reason 412"

When I attempt to connect to my employers VPN, I time-out and get a dialogue box stating "Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding". I only get this error when connected via Cox Internet. When I use my phone as a personal hot-spot, I connect immediately.
