Sure. Simply sign-up for a package that includes the channels you want. Otherwise, no. You DID look at the channel list before you chose your present package, no? Channels are not "chosen" for you. You choose the package that has the channels you want.

The newest DVR (called Contour or Record 6) allows you to delete channels that you never watch. They don't show up in the tv guide or if you change the channel up or down. You can reinstate a channel if you change your mind. Push the SETTINGS button on the remote control.
Otherwise, you have to pay for the extra channels that you want. At cox.com they have the different options for "packages" of channels. Sports Pack, Movie Pack, etc. (they may call them Tiers instead of Packs).

Contour is not a DVR. It is just a renamed Trio IPG. Besides the "Record 6" (Cisco 9865HDC) DVR, the 2-tuner 8642HDC and 8742HDC DVRs also run on Trio (Contour.) You may delete channels from your guide on those, too.
