Channel available in SD, but not HD anymore

I called a few days ago to ask what was going on with the FYI channel in HD because I was able to watch it a few days prior to that, and it was having problems (skipping, pixelation), but now it is currently unavailable to me. I can watch FYI on SD, but I think when we pay for HD channels, we should be able to watch them in HD right? Also just realized that the Outdoor channel is supposed to be available in HD as well but it currently is not, and only available on SD. The customer service rep attempted to reset my box remotely a few different ways to no avail. He scheduled a tech to come out, but do you think the tech would have been able to make that channel reappear in HD? Is anyone else having this problem? I get question marks when I try to enter the channel number in for both networks...

It sounds like from what you've described that you're probably experiencing a box issue or a problem with poor signal such that you're getting enough signal for SD and not HD perhaps.  If resetting the box doesn't work having a technician come out would be the next best step towards getting this resolved for you.

What receiver/DVR are you using? Both FYI-HD and Outdoor-HD are available in most areas as "Contour HD" (the re-named Plus Pak) channels, meaning they require a receiver/DVR with a 1GHz/H.264 capable tuner.

[BTW, how much are you "paying" for HD channels?]

I went to the Cox Solutions store in my area to exchange cable boxes to see if that would bring back the channel I'm looking for. They told me that only the Outdoor channel required the Contour box to view in HD, but the FYI network should be viewable with my current cable box/dvr. All I know is that we pay too much... I still am not able to view FYI in HD. A tech is coming out tomorrow. I mean, I was able to view FYI HD several days ago, and there were broadcasting problems, but ONLY with that channel. It's very strange.

I guess I have to ask more directly.

What model number STB are you using, and in which city/state do you live?

Well the tech just left. Got a new cable box (Motorola DCH3416/6380/000/160) because the one I swapped yesterday (same model) wasn't allowing me to use DVR. When he talked to the service center, he said that they weren't even showing that channel as having a signal, so they may have removed it in HD or are in the process of converting it to a Contour HD channel. I'm in Manhattan, KS and the most current channel guide lists FYI HD as a channel that I am able to receive, so I'm guessing I'll just have to wait and see what happens?
