I noticed the same thing, and joined this forum to ask the same question.

Yes, as soon as I receive my Visa gift card from Cox, I too will be switching to FIOS. Channel 155 was the first channel I turn to first thing in the morning to check the weather. (Yes, even before ESPN!!) No other channel gives me real time updates on the weather. I don't have the time or the patience to do the "On the 8's" thing. I'm extremely PISSED!!!!!

Weatherscan is by the Weather Channel, which isn't doing too good right now. They came back up for contract in 2015 and basically no one picked them up. Not even Verizon. When you can get the weather on your phone, watch, computer and tablet for free, doesn't make sense for Cox to pay the WC money that it could be spending on other channels.

Since Cox seems to have shut off replies to the earlier string I'm replying to this one to add my family's voice to the multitude of complaints about the removal of Channel 155 from The WeatherChannel in the DC area. We too have been subscribers for 20 years and this was our favorite channel, so Cox needs to figure out a way to get it back. We also have gotten the run-around and changing stories -- at first told they were unaware of a problem, then that it was a technical issue they were fixing, then hearing on one post that it might be a contract dispute with the provider, and now from Becky of Customer Support in a previous post that it was due to it being an analog channel. I know Verizon FIOS doesn't have it (to the upset of customers that have switched) but this was still one of the few competitive advantages Cox had and it would be in your interest to get it back. Otherwise we agree a permanent reduction in price is warranted.

I think this was a national decision, so it would it would take a backlash of hundred of thousands for Cox to consider going back to WC for new negotiations. In some ways, the deal is done, and Cox would be at a disadvantage at the bargaining table. The moderators here can put in requests with the product team, but each person can only make one request IMO.

The cost of Weather Channel (per CNBC) was $0.14 in 2014. Are you really complaining about a 14 cent price reduction? Considering there are so many ways to get better weather reporting on the internet, IMHO, Weather Channel & Weatherscan have gone the way of the dinosaur.
