Channel 1066 out in Omaha/Papillion/LaVista area

Posting here as a possible additional avenue to Cox Support, since the phone agents are unable to offer any information. Channel 1066 has been out for 4 days now for both my house and a friend's a few miles away. It is the only HD channel that is out; the SD version (66) is working.

Since the problem is not limited to my house or my hardware, it's a system issue not a cable box issue. Resets/reboots do nothing to help.

It'd be great if the system folks could at least let the phone support folks know what's up and the ETA for a fix.

Thanks for the reply Tiffany. Since I own a TiVo and did not have a tuning adapter (see below), it was likely that only I and my friend in LaVista were reporting the problem (the outage struck both of us on the same day).

Adding a TA solved the issue for me, though I was hoping to avoid it just due to numerous reports of problems with them.

I was well aware of how switched-digital video (SDV) worked and when Cox sent the letter a year or so ago I scanned the list of SDV channels and found none that I watched, so I opted out of having a TA. Every time I contacted Cox customer support or spoke to an in-store agent, I asked if the list of SDV channels had changed since the letter went out. Every time the answer was, "no." Since I only watch channels above 1000 and all of the SDV channels were 500 and below, if I remember correctly, it hasn't been an issue.

Until two weeks ago when 1066 went out, for both me and my friend. Since adding a TA fixed the issue, I presume now that 1066 was added to the SDV channel list and nobody at Cox support knew about it. Cox Nebraska does not publish a list of SDV channels (or at least it is very difficult to find on the website), so there is no way for the customer to know if a TA is really required or not. Very aggravating.

In any case, the issue is now resolved and my fingers are crossed that the TA does not cause problems.

This post is the first time you've mentioned that you're using a TiVo. If you had mentioned in your first post that you are NOT using a Cox leased box, SDV would have been suggested.

BTW, it can be determined if a channel is SDV somewhere in the TiVo diagnostics (I cannot remember exactly where.)
