CCI Information for San Diego - MythTV with HDHomeRun prime
I've been running a home theater PC at home for over a year now, but have so far only had access to the basic network channels. I want to expand my channel lineup with a cable subscription, but have been unable to find information about the CCI settings for my local channel lineups.
I believe the cable package I am looking at with the Advanced TV, and would give me access to various sports channels (which is what I'm really looking for) among other. From what I understand, if the CCI bit is set to 0x02 (Copy Once), my MythTV setup will not be able to display that channel. I definitely don't want to invest in the hardware and sink the time into attempting to set this up if it won't work, but the information I am looking for seems to just not exists. Even calling Cox resulted in being told that the CSR didn't have the information and didn't know how or where to get it.
I'm not looking to illegally distribute content, all I want to do is pay for and receive the content I want but not be limited to using the expensive HD DVR rental that is also not compatible with my HTPC setup. Can anyone here give me the information I need or tell me where I can get it?

TheGremlyn,
Our CCI bit is set to 0x02 (Copy Once) which is consistent with the agreements Cox has with various programmers to carry their cable content. We assure that these comport with the copy protection rules set forth in Section 76.1904(b) of the FCC’s Rules and Regulations as well.

Stephanie, thanks for your answer. I understand that 0x02 is allowed, but there are reports of other Cox areas being 0x01 for all but the premium content like HBO and Showtime. It also seems like this is based on technology based in the area, though I don't quite understand that part of it (something about areas with Motorola something-or-others have 0x01). I guess my next question would be, why make all content 0x02 instead of 0x02? This severely limits what your customers can do with their TV feeds. I'm certainly not looking to do anything illegal, in fact quite the opposite, I want to operate within the law, but the blanket 0x02 setting really hampers my options for watching the TV stream.

You hit the nail right on the head. I think it depends on the CMTS or something like that, but your right, I'm not sure exactly how it works either. I remember seeing a long thread on AVS forums about it once. What I think their conclusion was is it does depend on the area and if your in a area with 0x02 your kind of stuck with it. I remember hearing about about PHX getting their 02 changed to a 01, but I don't remember the details.
