Can't find wifi network

Some visitors to my house can't find my wifi network. The name does not appear. Why not

1. What kind of wireless router do you have?

2. Can you see any networks? Is one called the brand of your router? If so, someone probably factory reset your router. If your unsure, check for a sticker on it that will give a bunch of info, including the SSID. The SSID is just another word for network name.

You may have set your router to not broadcast your SSID.  If you don't mind all "visitors" connecting, deselect the option on your router to hide your SSID.  If you want to continue hiding your SSID, have your guests enter the SSID manually...then they'll be prompted to enter your network key.

Hi Margeorjoe,

There could be a number of factors as to why your visitors can't find your network. As Health Edge stated do you know your network name? If this is unknown you can check the back of the router for the default information. If you do know your router's information, then as Bruce suggested you may want to check your router settings. It is a possibility your router is configured to not broadcast your network name. Let us know if this works for you.
