I'm currently using an Explorer 8240HDC which allows you to record 2 shows at once, and I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade to the Record 6 DVR without getting the Contour or Whole Home DVR services? I just want to upgrade the stand alone box.
Thanks!

Tom0954,
Be prepared to scratch your head on this one. The answer is YES...sort of.
Contour, per se, is just Trio with and iPad app. No iPad? Then it's just the same Trio guide that you have with the 8642/8742. You probably run Passport on the 8240, so there will be a learning curve with Trio.
But...they will still want to charge you the same fees that they charge for the Record 6 DVR with WHDVR configuration and the iPad app even though you won't have the WFDVR configuration or the iPad app.
But yes. You CAN get the Record 6 DVR either way. You just pay the same either way.
Go figure...

Ah, that's a shame about the costs...
I like Passport on the current box but being limited to 2 recordings at once can get irritating at times, and I can only record about 21 hours (or so) before the HDD fills up.
Thanks for the answer!
