Cable changes

What happened??? Channel 2 has always been WGN! Now I cannot find WGN. I have the basic cable. That is the main reason I have Cable. I may have to put in an antenna. I'm a senior citizen, and I love the WGN channel for some of the old shows like "In the Heat of the Night" with Carroll O'Connor. That is my Saturday Morning gone down the drain. Please bring WGN back to my cable.

Read the "News" section of you bill. On my last bill (San Diego North County) it stated:

"On or about January 14, 2015 Cox will make the following
changes to its lineups in the San Diego North Service area:
"WGN" and "WGN HD" will move from channel 2/1002 to
channel 66/1066, move from Cox TV Starter to Cox TV
Essential and be added to Cox TV Economy, Cox TV Economy Plus and El Mix."
I suspect a similar move in your area.

Hi GrmaGrt,

With the demand for analog services declining, channels will gradually be moved to digital. WGN TV is one of those stations that has migrated to a digital channel. This allows us to offer more programming with better picture clarity. In order to continue receiving this channel, you will need a digital receiver. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

So now we have to pay extra to get WGN now.  Is that correct?

Leave it to Cox to eliminate a channel that we've paid for and not replace it with anything.  I dropped down to the minimum channels a year ago, and now they've dropped WGN and nearly dropped one of my local stations after several days of keeping it off the air.   If they drop anything else, it's time to consider dropping cable TV altogether.

In your area WGN transitioned from analog channel 26 to digital channel 61.  This move does now require a subscription to the TV Essential, El Mix, or TV Economy/Plus package.

Hello jezabel,

The channel has changed from an analog to a digital channel only. This change means that you will need to have subscribed to at least TV essentials in order to view it.
