Thanks. I found it this morning in the Favorite/Bookmarks section of a rarely used news client.

Does this mean that when Cox eliminates analog (mostly lower channels like basic), that someone with a digital/analog TV will have to have new Cox box to get them? If so I can only see advantage to Cox in revenue and none to customer.
Also related link from bryaninphx: http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/tv_forum/f/4/t/6700.aspx

Well, since those lower tier (previously analog) channels will now be leaving the head-end in digital rather than analog format, those using box for first time will see a better quality signal (better resolution and less video noise.) Also, there will be about 350MHz of bandwidth to play with. More HD channels? As far as revenue goes, they can raise rates whenever they choose to. Rumor has it that the DTAs will be provide free for a finite period of time for Starter and Essential subscribers.

@ChrisL…Ever thought about running for public office?
“Customers that will be losing direct to set video as a result of this will have the opportunity to opt for a lower cost digital "minibox" if upgrading to traditional digital isn't something you want to do.”
Nice way of saying Yes they will need to have a box, which will eventual add revenue and other benefits to Cox.
@Domino…Your points are well taken, but miss a large group of current customers. I have Contour 6 whole home with HD channels on two TV’s for most viewing. However I have two other TV’s that are digital/analog in areas of occasional use. I have no desire to rent a box to view essential channels on those TV’s and making their digital tuners useless. Since I have Advanced subscription, I drought I will receive free “minibox" for those TV’s.

Unless Cox retains ClearQAM for local channel reception, those TV QAM (digital) tuners will be more or less worthless, too. The only thing that your TV tuner will be good for is ATSC 8VSB (OTA) reception. And why do you subscribe to "Advanced TV" with no STB?

@Domino…The Advanced TV came with the Contour 6 whole home for two mainly used TV’s. The other two TV’s with no STB are small TV’s only used for mostly news, sports, etc. on starter channels for short periods while doing other task in those areas. Switching those TV’s to OTA would require separating wiring under house into two circuits. Where now all I need is connection to wall.

FWIW, I also have Advanced & Cox tech support told me I would receive 2 mini boxes free for the 1st year, $2/mo after that.

OK, but you only have 3 choices: 1) Get mini cable box for those two sets. 2) Separate the wiring for cable/antenna TV. 3) Try a few indoor antennas on those two TVs. You might get a few channels. Or, you could get cheap BD/DVD players for those two sets.
