For the last few months I have been getting very poor reception on only channels 3, 7, and 13. All other channels are nice and clear. About a week ago, even the bad channels cleared up and I thought Cox fixed the problem. Unfortunately, two days later the same channels became full of snow again. I checked the reception on two TVs in the house and both have the same problem so it cannot be the fault of my equipment.
When I talked to Cox a few weeks ago, they said there was no problems they were aware of but said they could send someone out but there could be a charge for that (I am on disability and cannot afford any extra charges so I refused the service call).
I would like to know if anyone else has this problem or if Cox has any plans to fix this (again!) so I can get good reception on all channels.

Are those channels local OTA channels, by any chance? Are you using a STB, or is your cable directly plugged into your TV?

I have noisy picture and audio, intermittently on 4 local channels in OKC. Mostly it happens early in the morning up to noon. Most of the time it is so bad we can't watch the 5AM early newscasts.Sometimes it happens during the day. The cable input is to a COX rented Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4240HDC cable box , output is HDMI cable to TV input.
Cox channel 4 which is local KFOR (over the air 4), Cox channel 8 which is local KOCO (over the air 5) , Cox channel 10 which is local KWTV (over the air 9) and Cox channel 14 which is local KETA (over the air 13)........Channels 2,3,6,7,9,11,12 and up never has this condition. I know these noisy channels are LOCAL HD but many other channels are HD, without problems.
A separate digital TV in my bedrrom (without a Cox cable box) never has the problem

Have you considered that the problems are with the OTA signals themselves? Can you check the OTA signals with an indoor antenna when these noise problems occur?

Yes Two Months ago, when the noisy channels were very bad, i removed the Cox cable from the Cox box and placed it on the input connector of the TV. I then had to have the TV scan for available channels. The problematic channels 4,8,10 and 14 were view-able with good audio and no sign of noise or buffering. I have always made cure all connectors are tight,
I then reattached the input cable to the Cox box rebooted it, and when I finally was able to select 4,8,10 and 14 the noise was still there.

It is a possibility that the equipment could be causing the noise. You can swap the receiver at the local service center or we can schedule an appointment to have a technician come out. Please let us know what you prefer.
