The first option on the Contour remote there is a blue microphone button. If you hold that down and say "Interstellar" the movie will show with the viewing options. The second way to access On Demand is by pressing the Contour button the remote and scroll over to On Demand to locate the movie that way. Let us know if you encounter any problems. Thanks

Then you need to correct your website. I've read other complaints about same problem with other movies listed at the website that are not listed at the actual Cox On Demand to watch it on TV.
What I found for this one...

If you follow the links I provided you will clearly see "First Contact" is a CLASSIFICATION [or sub-genre] created by Cox On Demand for science fiction movies about that subject. For example, the movie titled "Arrival" is listed under "First Contact" along with the movie titled "Interstellar" and several others. I had no problem accessing, renting and watching "Arrival" this past weekend. Then I went to "Interstellar" and there is noted that it will be available on 2/28 [February 28] today. So I followed the same steps, and did not find it listed when I went to Cox On Demand to rent and watch it today. Clearly it is missing from there now - but it was there last weekend, as was the "First Contact" classification - now also missing from there as of today. Apparently someone changed it there, having removed it, but did not remove it from the website listings.
I live in Norman, Oklahoma, home of Oklahoma University, a short distance south of Oklahoma City. I suspect Cox On Demand here might be different than Cox On Demand elsewhere. However, the website links I found and noted do not indicate city location differences. It's also not a technical problem. I ruled that out by resetting my box from my account page, which can also be done by calling their Support number and using the automated system.

It appears that the movie is available with our Contour 2 platform. Have you tried a keyword search for 'Interstellar' to see if it pops up?

Interesting. I was not informed about different "platforms" for Contour. I have "Contour TV 200+ Channels" that includes Cox On Demand. Are you implying I might not have access to all On Demand movies?
Last weekend Interstellar was listed at On Demand from Channel 1 access, right next to Arrival under the odd classification of "First Contact" listing several movies of that kind of science fiction. I watched Arrival. I was going to watch Interstellar then saw it would not be available until February 28. Now it and the odd classification are missing from there, but still listed at the Cox On Demand website. I looked for a search box at On Demand via Channel 1 and found none. There is the A-Z option but that means is too many to look through. The Cox On Demand website http://www.cox-ondemand.com/ does have its own internal search box for specific movies, from which Interstellar is easily found. It is also listed under the "First Contact" classification. The instructions are: "Watch Now

Hi Jim1956, In attempting to duplicate your issue, when trying to access the movie Intrastellar the menu shows that it's free on EPIX and $2.99 if watching it on On Demand. I do apologize as there was an issue with accessing this movie earlier, but that's been resolved. Thanks for your other suggestions, I will pass them on to our Management Team. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional concerns, as we're here daily 6am - 3am. Thanks for choosing Cox Communications and have a great rest of your week! --Carol

I've never herd of EPIX until in this forum. Is that part of my Cox deal? How do I access it? If it is included then why is it not listed as an option in the deal I have with Cox for TV, Internet, and Phone? How would I have known about it? As a Cox customer do I get to watch all movies via EPIX for free, or is Interstellar just happen to be one of the free ones? If free there, then why would I want to pay for renting it at On Demand? Makes no sense. What's the catch? Do I have to pay to join there to access free movies? Is it like Hulu?
Just because you can access it at On Demand does not mean I can. So if you can access it to rent for $2.99 at On Demand, then why can't I find it now? I easily found it last weekend. It was listed but to be "Available 2/28" and now on Feb 28 it is gone! So, no, this isn't resolved. It is not resolved until I find it at Cox On Demand via Channel 1, rent it and watch it. Okay, so where is it? What are the steps you took from your TV using your remote to select Channel 1 to access On Demand to then find it?
Here is what I did...
I go to Cox On Demand via Channel 1 from my remote...
On my TV screen, across the top are the choices of TV, Movies, Kids, Networks, Lifestyle, Latino, Events & Specials, and Local. I select Movies...
Below that appears Featured Movies. Interstellar is not listed.
Below that appears New & Most Popular. Interstellar is no longer listed. I believe it was there last weekend as one of two places.
Below that appears Movies on Premium Networks. Interstellar is not there.
Below that appears Free Movies. Interstellar is not there.
Below that is Collections. That's a bit different now, and First Contact as a collection of first contact science fiction is not there anymore, so Interstellar is not there. Previously, First Contact was separately listed like at the website, and I thought that to be odd to set apart one sub-genre of science fiction..
Below that the remaining options: Now Playing in Theaters, Kids Movies, Franchises & Stars. Not there.
Below that is Browse. Not in any of those. Of the Browse Options I did check Rotten Tomatoes, because they did review it, but it is not listed under Science Fiction.
Below that is All Movies to rent. Not there.
Below that is Movies for Purchase. Not there.
Last at the bottom is Adult. Certainly not there.
AT THE WEBSITE http://www.cox-ondemand.com/movies/ MOVIES ON DEMAND, the classifications listed are...
Interstellar is the third movie listed under First Contact. With instructions for how to watch it - to buy it. But those instructions don't work at On Demand via Channel 1 accessed from my remote.
It shouldn't be this hard. It should be easier to find and access any available movie. Arrival is easy to get to. Interstellar should be listed with Arrival because both have been listed as First Contact movies. It is listed with Arrival at the website, but not at actual On Demand.
I do thank you and the others for investigating this problem. Your time is greatly appreciated. But it is not yet resolved. Again, I ask, what specific steps did you take to access it? If I can't duplicate that on this end, then maybe a tech should come to my home to try it, confirm there is a problem on this end (other than me doing something wrong), and fix it.

Update. I did a Google Search for EPIX. Found it's website. Signed in via Cox. Created profile. Went to Movies, down to Science fiction and fantasy. Found the movie Interstellar. Clicked on Watch now. Guess what happened...

...So maybe what happened to Interstellar at EPIX also happened to it at On Demand?!
I'd bet it is a legal or cost issue, with the source - who Cox and EPIX was to get it from - demanded more money for it and not getting more money blocked it from being listed for rent or to buy or to watch for free. I mean it could have to do with royalties (something I know about as an author), or similar, how much the source gets, how much Cox gets, how much EPIX gets. For example, movies AMC wanted to show were rejected because the source (distributor perhaps) demanded too much money, and AMC would not be able to cover it with commercials and cable fees. I've seen the wars between Cox and individual channels like AMC, but more often between a Satellite service and channels like AMC or even local TV stations demanding more money - so if not getting more money to be removed from cable (or satellite) listings. I've seen the TV commercials like for "Tell your provider you want to keep AMC." Only demanding a small increase for its share of cable and satellite fees. Same thing happens to movies, miniseries, and TV shows. The source wants too much money so they are never seen on cable or satellite. Could be some of the same legal jerks who demand videos be removed from YouTube for copyright violation instead of seeing them as free ads for movies, TV, or music. I've bought movies and music because of exposure at YouTube. But greed rules. It's a vulture culture. Safe bet, that's what just happened to Interstellar at EPIX and at Cox On Demand - the source demanded its removal from available listings for legal or cost issues.

Karen_R:
Contour button to On Demand gets same result as pressing 1 and then selecting On Demand - same dead end.
HOWEVER, saying "Interstellar" into the microphone GETS IT!!! Wahoo!!! Thank you!!! You found the answer!!! It works!!! I'll use the microphone for voice command from now on. Cuts through all the BS. You should be in charge of customer service and support. The use of the microphone instructions should be posted at the website and at On Demand after pressing 1 or Contour button to get there. Would save a lot of trouble!
