Android Devices Unable to Connect to Email Server

I just discovered that I'm suddenly unable to access my Cox email account from any of three different android tablets that I use. This is a new issue. There is no problem accessing email on two different PC's--the problem appears to affect Android devices only. On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, I get this error message:

Unable to safely connect to server (java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.)

Any solution?

Motorola did security updates on 2/15 and now many emails are unable to send or/ receive message on many of Android based cell phones. This update may have defaulted the View Certificate option to enabled. This option can and needs to be disabled in the customer’s email settings. They may also need to reboot the phone once the changes have been made.

I too was having the same issue with a Samsung Android Transfix and I have Cricket service.  I read the article mentioned above, posted a question as well.  I then went and removed the word EAST from both my INCOMING and OUTGOING server settings, and am now ABLE to refresh mail and have NEW email show in my INBOX.

I advise trying the above as it seems to have solved the Server Connection issue for me.  I sure wish that someone from Cox would have sent information out to its customers that there may be an issue instead of letting us think it was most likely our mobile service provider.  A little heads up would be greatly appreciated in the future.

My Certification Validator said my Certification expired.  I changed POP & SMTP to cox.net and it works.  Is this how it's supposed to be?  I can't tell if I have new certification now or not.

We had the same issue too. Reset all three phones last night to the correct incoming mail server and they started working like they should. It sure would have been nice to have this communicated to us beforehand.

Followed Cox's instructions for setting up email on my phone.  I can only send email via WiFi via my cox internet connection.  I always get errors when sending: "Cannot connect to server. 554 fed1rmimpo306 cox connection refused from 206.29.182.215"

I would suggest checking that article again and making sure your device is using TLS or SSL to connect to our outgoing server.  The error you're receiving is common when attempting an unsecured connection to our outgoing server while not on the network.
