Hey thecat18, I am not showing an email. Can you resend it?

Ok I sent it again I hope I did it right I am at work & had to do it on my phone. Thanks, it's from bbarletta@cox.net. I just need to setup an appt. to fix our cable ASAP. Also see if the contour2 boxes would work if our cable is fixed again. Thanks.

Hi tecat18,

For every 1 Contour 2 DVR, you can network up to 3 clients to access the DVR network. Each client utilizes one of the 6 available tuners of the DVR receiver.

thecat18,

One stand alone Contour 2 6-tuner DVR can record 6 simultaneous shows. If you're watching TV on the DVR, then you're taking up one of the tuners, and can record 5 shows at once.

Customers may subscribe up to twelve Contour 2 devices per home. Up to three host and up to three clients per host.

You said you have 3 TVs. You can't record 6 programs at once if you have two of the tuners used by the two Client receivers. You can choose to have multiple record 6 contour 2 receivers in the home (up to three 6 tuner DVR Host receivers). If you don't see yourself needing that many tuners (18) at once, then you may consider one Host 6 tuner DVR, and 2 client receivers. This setup would only take up 2 tuners from the Host DVR, and allow you the other 4 tuners to record (if you're not using 1 tuner watching TV from the Host DVR).

Ok, now we have 3 separate dvr's on 3 tvs, which of the new contour would be best & for the best price if for example during primetime I record 2 shows at once on all 3 dvr's. Also will the pixels tiling & other dvr issues, like playing back a recording when it's still recording & the status bar not showing up right away & not stopping fast forwarding for a while, when it's still recording, will those issues be better, I do reboot our dvrs & it seems to get worse at 1st, for ex. I was recording a show last night & noticed half way through it wasn't recording, the channel wasn't available until I turned the dvr off & on again. We have had technicians recently fix issues in the cables, but it seems these problems cont. at various times.

It would seem that you would benefit from having two host 6 DVR boxes & one client box. You would be able to nine programs at once and still watch TV on the three boxes. The Contour 2 service requires that we certify your home before installation. This should fix any issues that you are having with tiling on your TV. We hope this information was helpful.

Ok what does certify our home before installation mean? I have been waiting to empty my dvrs now before I upgrade, we still have shows on there. If I get the 2 main boxes & 1 client box what are price difference between the 3 standalone cisco explorer dvr's from a couple yrs. ago I have now?

Hi Thecat18,

The the monthly rental fee for a Standard Digital Receiver, Advanced HD receiver, or DVR is the same, regardless of the IPG (video platform). All Rovi, Contour, and Contour 2 boxes are $8.50 a month.

Ok so can I order that many  boxes that way from the website.  Also mentioned was this.

What does cerify my home mean?

thecat18,

Scheduling a professional installation by a technician will certify the wiring and networking to provide you the best service outcome.

Just double checking if I got 2 contour-2 boxes & 1 client box I can record 2 shows at a time on all 3 TV's & still use another tuner to watch another channel.

Hi Thecat18,

You are correct. It sounds like two Contour 2 Record-6 DVRs and one client receiver would work for you.

Well it might be really soon I get these new boxes because my main dvr box now is 70% empty & I have been having trouble the last 2 nights & rebooted it twice, on my list of shows on the dvr list after I deleted something it froze & turning it on & off was the only thing I could do & that same frozen screen came back on & what I was recording never saved after I rebooted the box it was in the missed recordings & the night before everything I played back would play then back with tiling, & other issues that are hard to describe & in fast forward it would speed up then slow down, so I rebooted again. I think this box might only be 2 yrs. old & about to die, since the last one I lost a lot of things on it. I noticed more tiling after I reboot the box for a day or 2. I always it would help it. I unplug it for 20 sec. Is there a way I can backup my shows & transfer onto the new box? Also how much is the professional install for the new contour2 home dvr?

@thecat18

Sounds like you may have signal issues with the DVR box check all the connections and make sure there at least hand tight if there's a splitter tight and bypass just see if that stops the tiling. Being able to back up the hard drive on the DVR feature isn't able at this current time.
