50Mb down, Not even close.

So my roommates and I ran a speedtest. We are at 12Mb down and about 4Mb up. COX confirmed to us be at down at 50Mb in our area yet 12Mb is definitely nowhere even near 50Mb. Anyone have any ideas?

What model modem, and are you connecting directly to it for the test?

Same here (West Suffield, CT). Received an email from COX stating they doubled speed to 50MB, so I replaced my DOCSIS 2.0 modem with a DOCSIS 3.0 (ARRIS / Motorola SB6141) and changed my CAT5 cables to CAT5E. As of last night, I am getting 27MB down and 7MB up.

WestSuffieldSubscriber,

Your modem upgrade may require a service code change on your account, but since your forums registration email address is not tied to a Cox account I can't be sure. Please email me at cox.help@cox.com so I can take a closer look. I'll need your full address with city and state, the account holder's and your full name and the Cox PIN. Please include a reference to your forum post or username as well.

Thanks Colleen, I sent the information last night and I also changed my forum email to be my cox primary account.

I have the same problem in South Windsor.  Replaced my old modem with the same one WestSuffieldSubscriber is using (SB6141), added the Cat 5e cable, but there's been no change to my up/down speeds compared to the  which are about 32 up and 7 down using Ethernet.   A Cox web link tells me that I need to upgrade my modem, even though my new modem shows up on my profile.  I waited 45 minutes for help over the phone, but no live person ever picked up.  Please help!

I was able to find the account and change the service code. Please test your speeds again and let me know what you get.

Having the same issues in Phoenix.  Was gone for a few weeks and couldn't even stream a netflix movie last night when I got home.  Laptop speed is anywhere from 5-10mbps and for some reason on my phone i'm getting 30mbps.  I still can't stream anything today.  Are you in AZ?

Thank you for the help.  I'm getting about 60 up, but still only 6+ down, using wired Ethernet.  About 58 up and 6 down using wireless.

Now why does the "modem checker" still say I need to upgrade my modem?

You're definitely good to go, I'd disregard that message at this point.
