2 Sony TV - 2 broken remote controls for volume and power on/off

Sony models = KDL 32L5000 & KDL 26L5000 Remote Control = URC - 8820- CISCO Sony 26L5000 broke 09.05.15 and local Cox tech said that my TV sensor had probably blown. I accepted that and manually have had to cut TV off and of course I could not remotely control volume. Today, Sony 32L5000 broke, same results. Can not remotely control volume nor power on/off. Called Cox Tech support and she had me go through the 4 codes to trouble shoot. Codes for Sony = 0810, 1300, 1685 & 1904....none of them would power on / off TV or do volume control, but it does cut off the cable box. Like I said, I went through this 09.05.15 on the other TV. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to replace 2 TVs especially with the same issue on both. Something is wrong here. Steps taken = using remote, hit TV button....hold down Menu and Select at same time and TV button will blink twice, then enter code above...now try and cut off TV, pointing remote towards TV and try not to point at cable box because it will cut off cable feed. Any other codes? Sony are you also listening? Email = Acemail75@gmail.com

Nobody from Sony would be listening here.  Do you have the original remotes from the TV's?  If so, try them, if they work it eliminates the ir sensor and the TV from the equation.  Do you have fresh batteries in the Cox remote?  Do you have another Cox remote you can try?  First we have to isolate the problem to the remote or the TVs, unusual the ir sensor will go on 2 sets.

Yes, I have original remote for the TV....the TV that went out today, YES, I am able to control the volume with the original TV remote . But I can not cut power off to TV but volume, YES...I also have NEW batteries in the Cox remote. Yes, I tried the other remote and no results in volume or power on/off, it's a manual control.

A quick Google search turned up many reports of this issue on Sony TVs.  Only suggestions I found was to do a power reset (unplug TV for at least 60 seconds) and make sure firmware is up-to-date.  If you have the current firmware and a power reset doesn't help, sorry but I think a call to Sony support is in order.
