Tuning Adapter (High-Split) Converter Problem
I have a TV ROAMIO that has been used without problems with a tuning adapter for 9 years. A few months ago I was sent a new High Split Converter (HSC-1-H) and I installed it and it worked without issue for 2 months. At 2 am a week ago, I could not receive any channels. When I unplugged the HSC tuning adapter - everything returned to normal. I replaced the Cable Card - no effect A COX tech spent 2 hours in my house and was unable to find the problem. He verified that all my wiring, splitters, and signals to the unit were fine. He replaced all the cable and splitters. I replaced with TIVO with a new ROAMIO - No change - Nothing will work once I plug in the Tuning Adapter. COX sent me a new Tuning Adapter (HSC) and everything worked for about 24 hours - then, once again at 2 am - the problem returned. No channels unless I unplug the tuning adapter. I have changed all the USB cables, twice, changed every component in the system, twice, and watched the COX tech work on the problem for 2 hours - Nothing. I have several television shows set to series recording, and recently noticed that I’m missing weeks of recordings. I have the TV shows The Voice, Abbot Elementary, etc set for series recording and it’s skipped 4 to 5 episodes and picked up weeks later after all of those missing recordings. When I attempt to play the recordings, they are only available on Peacock so I just was forced to pay for subscription to Peacock. If I want to watch my shows, why is that so when I pay for Cox Cable already and was able to record in the past? When the tv is first turned on, a Webco advertisement appears rather than going to a tv channel. It is supposed to go away with the push of any button on the Contour remote, but it doesn't. None of the buttons do anything. We have to just wait for up to 2 minutes for the channel to come on. It is Sunday, April 21st. We have had no cable Tv since 12:50pm today. It is now 8:11pm. We have been customers for 19 years. I recently posted a question about an equipment update from COX. A moderator, DannyS replied that the update involved new Tuning Adaptors. Strangely, DannyS disabled replies, so I'll start another thread with my follow up questions. As stated in the original post, my tuning adaptors were updated about a year ago. Are you really going to update them again or is this an error. I finally got a hold of a real person at Cox. She stated that the update involves new Cable Card, not Tuning Adaptors. On Monday evening, my cable started acting up, which it has done before but usually fixes itself. This time it did not. I tried everything they say to do. When I try to reset it through the app, it doesn't work. (and the fact that I have to login EVERYTIME to the cox app is really annoying!!) On Tuesday, I returned the box, which I have done SEVERAL times before. Hooked up the new box, same thing. Just shows a single letter or something on the box and does absolutely nothing. Contacted support last night, to see if I could get some kind of credit because I haven't had service for 5 days, after chatting with someone for almost an hour, then for some reason transferring me to someone else, I'm told they only give credit when there's a power outage. So, they know i don't have cable, it's something with their equipment & they have no clue what is wrong, yet they can't give me a credit for 5 days??? The fact that every time I have had to return a box (which has been a lot) that they don't even ask what is wrong with it, says a lot to me. I think they know their equipment sucks & just don't care. I am so close to getting rid of them all together for cable. We have nothing but problems with them. My bill keeps going higher & the service gets worse. For the past 2 weeks, Bally sports Sun on channel 43 in Destin, FL (Pensacola-Gulfcoast channels) is pixelating so bad that I can't watch the Rays games. I have called Bally. They say reboot! duh. Doesn't help. I call Cox and they say "interference" no. The modem is next to the TV. TV, modem, router, all unplugged, rebooted. It's the only channel that does this. I see online that Bally channel does this with Xfinity too. So it's Bally's fault, right? why is it that neither will take responsibility for this signal? Last night 4/13 I was unable to sign in to my Apple TV app. After speaking with Apple and the tier 2 tech support at Cox I was told they are indeed aware of the problem and they're working on a fix. Apparently they've had this problem before. Clearing your data will not fix the current problem. Contour 1 DVR box was much much more user friendly than contour 2. You could choose a channel, leave it on for a minute, go to another channel, do the same, and both would allow rewind to go back an hour. Now, you can only go back as far as the channel was chosen, just a few moments or even seconds. We want to go back to contour 1, but Cox can't go backward in firmware, only forwards. That makes my perfectly functional contour box a boat anchor. We went to 2 to upgrade, but it's more of a downgrade, in all the functions that we use the most. You don't know that till you try it, then it's too late to go back if you don't like it. That leaves the only other option to find another provider, but unless you can try it first BEFORE you buy it, you'd be in the same boat of having an interface you that isn't what you want. Picture trouble
I've been having trouble with pictures freezing or breaking up. I was also getting the message that 'we're having problems on our end - station not working - try again in a few seconds. I thought it might be my old Contour 2 box - I went to the Cox store in Fairfax and swapped out my old box. I installed my new box with the new remote and wiring - same problem. "there seems to be a problem on our end - wait a few seconds and try again. Other stations either freeze or break up. I checked all my connections - all tight. Is Cox having problems? I haven't checked outside. Inside I only have the 1 box and 1 TV and everything's tight. I've tried refreshing the system and rebooting - no effect. What's going on? Daily recorded shows missing in web browser
I use Edge in Windows 11 for most of my viewing, and several times over the last couple of weeks, my recorded shows newer than a few days to a couple of weeks become unavailable. They're present in the phone app and my XG2 box, so this is a browser problem. Unfortunately, quitting the browser and restarting doesn't typically help, but it does randomly start working again at some point. Like right now. This was the second time while composing this message that I quit Edge and restarted it, and the second time, all my programs recorded Monday showed up. I'm talking about CNBC weekday programs, The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle, Erin Burnett, etc. Before they came back, The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper from 4/7 (Sunday) was the first show to appear under "Saved / Recordings" viewed by "Most Recent", while for other programs like Fast Money, I would see the latest recording typically dated 3/28 or thereabouts. Now, Stephanie Ruhle appears first in the list, as it always does at this time of day when everything is working correctly, with 17 shows in front of Anderson Cooper, and all the recording that should be there for each show are there again. Please be aware of what is going on with returns and my opinion of how they are scamming people with their UPS return service.*********************** DO NOT USE COX COMMUNICATIONS for your home TV cable service! In my opinion their return equipment service option is not reliable and they are difficult to work with. I moved in February and followed their lousy return process for equipment using UPS. I brought my equipment in, the counter person at UPS scanned the device, gave me a receipt and I was on my way. Then weeks later, I started receiving phone calls telling me to return the equipment or face a fee of $150. I explained over and over that I returned the device and provided the UPS tracking number showing receipt at their AZ return center that was signed for by “Aragon”. Each time they would say, ok we will notate the account as equipment received. Despite communicating the UPS number, this continued on as I saw I had a balance due of $150 on my closed account! I called in to Cox to find out what the issue is and why they would not recognize my return. Now they say that the device number they had on file for my Contour box was not returned. A tracer was put on it and I had to wait a week to find out that they continue to say I did not return the contour box. They cannot tell me what was returned by me, based on the scan of the equipment that UPS did and that “Aragon” signed for. They just continue to repeat that I owe $150 for the box and that I am now going to collections if I don’t pay their extortion equipment fee. I have perfect credit, have no reason to keep their box, and will probably have to pay their extortion fee in order to settle this! I was a customer for 7 years and never had a late payment. I have to guess that a mistake was made by Cox when the box was originally sent to me since the equipment serial number does not match what they have on file. I even contacted UPS and they confirmed they scan the equipment to get the number, and do not manually enter it. Please think carefully about choosing these clowns 🤡 for your home TV Services. You use the return service they provide, then they will say it wasn’t the equipment you had, but cant tell you what you returned! Tell your friends as well. Mini box remote no longer powers on/off
URC 2220-R remote can no longer power on and off the TV. All other functions work and it has previously worked since I got the mini box. I have 2 other mini boxes and this remote cannot power up them either. These other 2 remotes also cannot power up the first TV. It’s been going on for a good two weeks now. Network shows like The View, ABC nightly news, etc are all affected. Not local content, and mostly not commercials. We had some issues with a previous DVR, so since our most recent replacement, we've been keeping closer track of recordings and capacity. Last night, we had 293 recordings reported a utilization of 40%. When we checked this morning, the box reported 221 recordings and 29.2% utilization. OVER 60 RECORDINGS DISAPPEARED OVERNIGHT! There were some deletions of episodes recorded in February and early March, but for the most part, every episode that was recorded Thursday 3/21, Friday 3/23 and Monday 3/25 has disappeared. They do not show up under recently deleted. l the series recordings appear to be recording today (3/26), so far. Whenever we set a series recording, we always chose "Save Until Capacity (up to a year). We also always chose to record "new and repeat episodes" and to Keep "All Episodes" We had issues with pixelation on a previous box, and have not had a recurrence with the new box, however this would seem not to be a hardware issue. I'm in SE Ocala. Earlier this month Cox was having complete outages in my area. Lately,10-7 days, I've been getting TV outages. One went out for over a day 3 or 4 of them were for part of the day. Today it has been out since about 6am. Each time I called I went through the reboot routine. Each time it was a different tech I talked to. 3 of the times they were going to schedule a home visit but found there was an outage in my area. Each time that happened the useless Cox outage map showed no outages. Today I lost contact when the tech was about to scedule a home visit. He did not call back. I would like to know if Cox is having outage problems once and forall. If so, what's the estimated time of repair. We often have a problem when watching a sports program that has been recording but hasn't finished yet. While viewing the recording and then fast forwarding it often goes back to the beginning. We then need to fast forward to try to find where we were. Seems to only happen when viewing a recording that hasn't finished yet.
