Cannot Send Mail
What happened to the instructions that were supposed to arrive once the transition to Yahoo happened? I can send emails from Windows 10 desktop using the Cox webmail address: https://www.cox.com/content/dam/cox/okta/mail.html However I can't send email using the Mail app on my iPhone or iPad. I get this message: "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.cox.net" failed. Additional outgoing Mail Servers can be configured for Mail accounts in Settings > Mail > Accounts>" How can I determine if I am in "transition" or some other problem?147Views2likes10Commentsexcessive data use charges
Since the November 2023 billing cycle, I have been hit with ~ $70 of data overage charges each month. Our usage patterns have not varied for the past several years, in fact they actually appear lower during months everyone was home full time. I am also confident nobody is hijacking our wifi and none of the devices have malware. So, I followed the process and opened a ticket with support, which was of no help. They just kept referring me to the "data usage meter" report in my account portal and claimed it was accurate. I asked for a copy of specific traffic logs so I could audit accuracy and hopefully identify the root cause source device(s). They advised me that specific information wasn't captured. I asked how they could classify my traffic as "web browsing" versus "social media" versus "network management and testing" (according to their data meter) if they didn't have the specific data from their logging. They had no answer for that query. My next step was to register a complaint with my local utility regulator (PURA for Connecticut). Literally the day after I submitted my complaint (and included several other Cox forum posts indicating other customers with very similar issues), I received a call from a "Cox Escalation Specialist", who basically repeated the talking points from the original service call I opened. It appears PURA didn't do anything other than literally pass along a complaint to a utility they are supposed to regulate. Not happy with this development, I contacted my local State Senator's Office and asked them to intervene on my behalf. All I am asking for is specific and accurate data to support Cox' claim of excessive use. It seems like this is a concerted effort to dissuade customers from complaining in the hopes they will simply pay the recurring charges or upgrade to a more expensive unlimited data plan. If Cox can prove their claims of excessive usage, I will be happy to pay or upgrade without complaint, but until then, I don't plan to let this rest.326Views2likes16CommentsOver charge by Cox
We have had MLB.com for years and pay $150/year for it. It can be accessed on our computer or on our television. Cox is now trying to double charge for it saying we requested extra innings (whatever that is) I filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because they wouldn't remove it. It's relatively easy... if you have an overcharge, don't let them get away with it.10Views0likes1CommentEMail not saving messages
As far as I can determine I am still with Cox email. Today two out of my six accounts stopped saving messages. I use Thunderbird for emails and the 'SENT' file is grayed out and no messages show. I get two error messages Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder due to network or file problems The current command did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxx@cox.net responded [TRYCREATE] Mailbox doesn't exist. When I log in to webmail.cox.net, I can see the old message but the newly sent message are not being saved. Four out of the six account are working OK13Views0likes1CommentWARNING: Yahoo hides spam from third-party email apps
Yahoo Email filters out their idea of spam into a Yahoo spam folder and never makes it visible to third-party email apps such as Mac Mail or Thunderbird. I found this out the hard way when several critical emails did not arrive as expected, only to find them later in Yahoo's spam folder via their webmail interface. There is no way I've found to turn this off. You can supposedly train their spam filter by marking individual emails as "not spam", but this means you still have to login constantly to Yahoo and check the spam folder for legitimate email.18Views0likes0CommentsMac with Sonoma won’t let my cox/yahoo account to go online.
MacBook Pro with Sonoma OS, I added myCox yahoo account to the Apple email program. However, it will not let me take this account online. The status will always remain off-line no matter what steps I try to take it online. I haven’t been able to find anywhere if I need to change the IMAP and SMTP settings if that’s what’s required. Anyone have a fix to this problem?28Views0likes5CommentsDozens of outages within past few weeks. NW OKC
I’ve not had a reliable connection to the internet in weeks now. Dozens and dozens of text outage alerts, updates, and fix notifications, but internet always ends up going down again a few minutes to hours later. I don’t know what to do. I need internet for work, and all the other things we pay to have internet for, but I’m not getting the service I pay for. ATT doesn’t have fiber in my area, so that’s no use. Anyone tried Tmobile 5G for home internet?27Views0likes1CommentEmail migration if Yahoo account already exists?
I previously had a Yahoo account using my cox.net email for the account name. What happens now? Yahoo doesn't ask me to change my password when I log in and I don't see any cox.net emails... Where can I find step by step instructions? Thank you.Solved34Views0likes4CommentsOutage
After thunderstorms rolled through our area yesterday Cox internet is still out going on 24 hours soon In a small area in Topeka Kansas on April 26, 2024. Getting their texts. Will be repaired soon but nothing! Just moved and had Cox Internet installed I know this area within a three or 4 mile range has dropped connections a lot. Cox needs to look into this area more!8Views0likes1Comment
