What is CoxWiFi?
My computer lists three routes for internet access, 2.4G, 5G, and CoxWiFi. I use 5G and am happy with it. The first two are associated with my Arris TG1682G gateway. But I'm wondering what CoxWiFi is about, in part because it isn't secured. I assume that it's somehow also associated with the gateway. Is that right? I see that a neighbor is on Cox's list of WiFi hotspots but I am not. Can anyone access the internet through my CoxWiFi port? Why is a neighbor on the Cox list but I am not, i.e. do you have to sign up for that? Please don't infer that I want to be on the Cox list. I'm just wondering what's going on, i.e. does it provide free internet access to my neighbors/passersby or if there are any security implications. Will my cell phone, not a Cox phone, access the internet through it?38Views0likes2CommentsCox Mobile Plan without Cox Internet

Our family has multiple individual email addresses all under our main account, from back when Cox allowed several email addresses per account. Will the Yahoo transition move ALL of our email accounts, or just the primary owner account? This is important for many customers and hasn't been addressed in any FAQ. I'm concerned because the transition notice is only going to the primary email and no notices are going to any other email addresses on our account. Thanks!244Views0likes3CommentsNew to Cox Internet, having Intermittent issues
Helloeveryone, After reading many concerns over connectivity and Internet Service on this forum, I am not sure if my problem is unique or just another occurrence of what others are experiencing. I'm pretty fluent with PCs, but am not network-savvy. I'm thinking this problem could be my PC, but I am thinking it's most likely the Internet Service. I have Cox 1GB service with unlimited data. I just moved across the country from Herndon, VA, where I had Verizon FIOs for years - which all my computers used to be connected to. That service is not available in my new location, Glendale, AZ, outside of Phoenix. The problem is intermittent connectivity to websites I KNOW are up and running. It happens often enough to be very disrupting to my work as well as frustrating. It seems to happen on websites I have previously visited - I don't recall it ever happening the first time I attempt to visit a website I have not visited previously. The error message from the browser is "Hmmm... can't reach this page The connection was reset." I know the websites are up and running because I can open them using Safari on my iPhone. The PC is running Windows 10. I have tried both Microsoft Edge as well as Google Chrome on the PC. Still get the same error. I tried doing an "ipconfig/dnflush", but this did not help. I even uninstalled my Antivirus software (Norton 360), but this did not help, so I re-installed it. The weird thing is that I can usually go to the same websites that failed earlier and can access them with no issue, but the problem generally comes back. Of course, I have tried rebooting both he PC and the modem/router, but this did not help. Anyone have a clue how to solve this, or at least help try to narrow down the problem??? Incidentally, I am only getting about 106 Mbps download speed, but perhaps this is because all my computers are connected via WiFi - they are not hard-wire connected to the Router. Thanks for any help or hints you might have!! Dennis40Views0likes1CommentFAQ for Cox email transition to Yahoo
I have received two emails that appear to come from Cox about the transition to Yahoo email. They both give a link that claims to link to an FAQ for the transition. After the first email, I chatted with an agent at Cox because I do not click on links in emails. He indicated the email was not from Cox, but I am not sure he was right. If there is an FAQ for this transition, all I want is a way to access it from within the Cox website without having to click a link in an email. Is there such a link on the Cox website? I tried searching, but could not find one.2KViews1like21CommentsMassive spike
I have a massive spike, of over 600gb within 2 days, showing in my data usage. Told our browsing is causing the issue. WE'VE DONE NOTHING! Nothing different than we've always done. Past 3 months only used between 450 & 680 gb. (A little over half of what I pay for every month). But Dec 2nd & 3rd spiked over 600! WTF!? I told support that something is wrong... they say it's me. Uuuhh.... no sir! It. Is. Not. Again.... We've done nothing different than we've always done.843Views5likes40CommentsCox New Yahoo Email Starts Now
Well went to check Cox email, and guess what ? I had to make the move to yahoo email. Couple of things learned by my mistakes. You will have to change your email password so have one ready. Don't sign into your phone and computers until you have made sure you are established in the new yahoo account. Was kinda pain free. Will have to learn new ways of doing things, but what else is new. Little more difficult if you already have a Yahoo email account, but you can work around it with a little thought. If anyone learns new tricks to change over list them here so we don't have to hunt all over for them. GOOD LUCK44Views0likes0CommentsInternet outage fixed
Location: Green Valley, AZ After five days with our internet being down, contacting tech support 12 times, my post on this site generated a response. A tech service person was scheduled for the next day and the problem (incorrect installation of hardware at the box at the street) was fixed. Our internet is back up and running. Many thanks to the site moderator who intervened and helped me The reason the outage at my house (and my neighbor’s house) went on so long is that there is a broader outage (Cox upgrade) in my area. Once the call center saw that note pop up on their screens, they refused to or couldn’t send a technician to our home despite my telling them that all my neighbors had service with 2 exceptions. Indeed, it was a problem specific to the box in front of my house. Perhaps additional training could be provided to the call center so they take an extra step to screen the area and see how many houses are without internet. Thank you moderators for helping me.20Views0likes0Comments
