Receiver: Okay to Always Leave On?

Hi.  The installer suggested I always leave my Contour Record 6 HD-DVR on.  I just want to double-check:  Is this the recommended approach, or is it better to turn it off at night (or when TV is not on)?

Thanks, Jerry.  From your experience, it sounds like it keeping it on has little effect on lifespan of the receiver.

Hi HeavenWard, not all Contour 2 receivers actually power off. For some receivers, powering down actually means the receiver is in Power Save mode. To learn more, go to www.cox.com/.../turning-a-contour-2-receiver-on-and-off.html. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

Thanks, Becky, but I actually have a Contour Record 6 HD-DVR (your link was for Contour 2 -- unless I am misunderstanding the products (I'm new to Cox).  Between your response and Jerry's experience, however, it sounds like leaving the receiver on has little effect on product lifespan.
