Verification code not turning off

I have been trying to turn off this verification code to get into my email I should not have to go look for my wife's phone to look at emails.  I went into accounts and there is no button to shut the *** thing off. On yes off no,   I great lady who was trying to help said it may be because passwords are not always right and that may be so because every time I turn around it seems they want a new password more BS.  The 64000 dollar question how the hell do I turn this off and never want to see it again.
