Terrible

My bill went up from 70 to 95 for TWO MONTHS because I had autopay and they couldn’t read my card??  For internet that is actually horrible but the chokehold they have on this area makes it a pain to choose any other company. Honestly I would put your money towards a company that will treat you terribly but at least offers good service.

I was charged $50 because my autopay card was cancelled due to fraudulent charges even though I paid the bill and changed the card before the due date.

Hello maddygevans,

We value your business and want to be sure we're addressing your service and account concerns. I'm sorry to hear you were a victim of fraud. I know having to update all accounts with the updated payment can be stressful enough. If this happened to me, I'm sure I'd want the $50.00 charge evaluated and addressed, especially if I was quick in updating my payment information was changed. When you have a moment, could you email us at Cox.Help@cox.com with your first and last name, complete address, and include the URL to your forum comment? We can help with your service and billing concerns.

I had a similar problem when my card got declined. The problem is, autopay only charges on the day that the payment is due, so if there is a problem, there is no way to fix it before your payment becomes late. You might want to switch to manual payments, and leave yourself a monthly reminder in whatever calendar you use a few days before the deadline, so if you do have a problem, you can call your credit card company and fix it in time.

I've used ACH to pay my Cox bill for decades and I've never had a payment issue.   I have all my regular payments set up to pay by ACH.  I just record dates and amounts in my financial system when statements are received.  If it's still available to new customers, I'd recommend taking the time to set your Cox payment up on ACH and you'll never have to worry about a missed payment or Cox fees for late payments again.  Just make sure your checking account always has a sufficient balance or you could get charged fees by Cox and your bank.

@CurtB same here, I have used autopay for at least 14 years now, and have never had an issue.

@Darkatt A long time ago before Easypay was available, I coordinated with my bank to set up Cox payments on ACH.   Easypay is Cox’s proprietary system that may or may not use ACH.  Attempts to ask Cox about it didn’t provide a clear answer, but it doesn’t matter as long as it’s secure and reliable.  It's important to mention that the Easypay option chosen can matter though.  Using a credit card can get rewards from the credit card company and defer disbursement of customer funds, but a credit card can expire or be declined.  This can cause Cox payments to be late resulting in late fees.  A bank checking account can be closed if not managed properly, but it won’t expire.  I recommend setting up Cox payments with Easypay using the bank checking account option.  If the customer properly manages their checking account, they'll never have to worry about a missed Cox payment again.

That's what I did YEARS ago. I have a credit union, (Friends don't let friends join banks, lol), and my account has been active and in good terms since 1993.

Cox won't care if a customer uses a bank or a credit union as long as they get paid.

Instead of "bank checking account", I should have said "bank or credit union demand deposit account".  Someone reading this probably wondered "What's a checking account?"
