Severe packet loss when routing to Riot Games EU servers (Cox → Twelve99 / Telia)
Hi,
I’ve been experiencing heavy packet loss and failed connections when trying to reach Riot Games’ European servers (League of Legends EUW/TR).
I ran multiple traceroute and PingPlotter tests, and the issue consistently starts after Cox hands off traffic to Twelve99 (Telia) — specifically around the 62.115.x.x hops (Paris backbone). After that point, all requests time out.
Using a VPN completely fixes the problem, which suggests it’s a routing / peering issue between Cox and Telia rather than a local connection issue.
Could you please help me? I did call the support but i dont even think they they did understand my problem. Trying to fix connection issues without any file or screenshot is terrible way to do that. I did attach traceroute and Pingplotter results.
I also did contact with riot games support but after the pingplotter test, they told me that problem is high ping and packet loss values by your internet service, you should contact them. But again, live chat doesnt have enough knowledge to solve problem. They give you a call number. They guy on the phone told me that some ip adresses are banned and we cant do anything about that. But problem did start 3 week ago. I am using cox more than 2 years.

I'm sorry to hear there has been any difficulty. With you finding there are no issues on a VPN, this doesn't sound like a packet loss issue to the modem, so we may not be able to provide helpful guidance. We can take a look at what your modem is reporting, though there isn't much we can do once it's off of a Cox network. We have a support team available to receive you at Cox.Help@cox.com. Some things we need would be your name, complete address, include the URL to this forum comment, as well as some detail of when you find packet loss. If the issue isn't present at the time of troubleshooting, then this can make it difficult to ascertain.
