It looks like I have 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz from my modem. Which one should I be using for optimum reception?

2.4 GHz or 5 GHz which should I use for my modem?

Do you have an -n or -ac router?  You will have to define "optimum" because each frequency has its pros and cons:  range, bandwidth, compatibility, interference.  For example, 2.4 has longer range but smaller throughput; however, 5 has shorter range but larger throughout.  It really depends where you'll locate your wireless device and what you'll do with it.

Most routers will let one set up both frequencies with the same login credentials so that devices can automatically switch between the two. Be sure the set this up on your devices, as well.

won't the device/s auto-select the best of the 2 choices?

I thinks that's beam-forming or Spread-Spectrum or Adaptive Frequency Hopping...and a Cox router wouldn't include this technology.  I read Google WiFi routers have it.

Having a client auto-select the best frequency would require some type of adaptive technology.  "I don't like this frequency, so move to another."  Bluetooth and client NIC support it...but I don't think a Cox router would.  Maybe.

now i recall changing old linksys wi-fi to ch11, now can't find a way, or really have a need to change channel on pano unit, because it delivers close to what's advertised with ultimate.300 plan.
