Frustration with the Cox Total Care/Premium Support
For the last 3.5 hours I have been trying to straighten out a glitch with my email.
The account email involved has existed since the mid 1990s. I recently moved that email from being associated with my original account at Cox, to the one at my current residence. (Divorce, yadda yadda).
Three days ago Outlook declared it couldn't contact the servers. I gave it a day or so, because sometimes things just break. The web interface at mail.yahoo works like a champ, thankfully.
I found out yesterday that the account that was originally tied to my email had been turned off. I'd like to confirm that my email account has not been disabled and follow up with finding out that my Outlook is configured correctly.
I called the Total Care ph#, spending 20 minutes on the line to be told to call the Correct Phone # for tech support. When I hung up I realized I had called the right number.
I went online to the chat bat tech support. They told me to contact yahoo. What does Yahoo have to do with it?!? Do they disable email accounts these days?
Not to get too discouraged, I called the Total Care ph# again, to be told that there is a network outage in my area, and check again in an hour, followed by a hangup. :)
I realize that this is just frustration, but what the heck. Am I overlooking another way to get this checked on?

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble wth with your email address. And for the experience you had when trying to get help with this. If this is your cox.net email address, all cox.net email addresses were transferred to be managed by Yahoo Last year. We no longer manage or have access to cox.net email addresses.
If you have not already done so, please log into your Cox email address on Yahoo's website https://mail.yahoo.com this will let you access your cox email address and verify it is active on yahoo servers information aobue yahoo settign and how t get it to work outlook and other 3rd party email programs can be found at https://help.yahoo.com/kb/update-coxnet-email-settings-outlook-mail-mac-third-party-email-clients-sln36637.html
If this is not a cox.net email address please let us know so we can help with thsi issue

Hi,
Thank you for verifying that it is a cox.net email address. All email management and server hosting is now done by Yahoo. We no longer have access to the mail server to look behind the scenes. I would first check the Outlook email settings and make sure they match.
Incoming mail settings:
IMAP settings
Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
or
POP settings
Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 995
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail settings:
Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465 or 587
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires TLS: Yes (if available)
Requires authentication: Yes
If you are using IMAP, then all emails are stored on the Yahoo servers. Then you can delete your email profile in Outlook and add it back in using the instructions at https://help.yahoo.com/kb/update-coxnet-email-settings-outlook-mail-mac-third-party-email-clients-sln36637.html
If this does not work, then you may need to contact Yahoo for support. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account

Thanks GregP1 for the guidance.
I had to call yahoo and go through their tech support. :)
I had not realized that support for email apps had gone away from the Cox Total Care. Color me educated.
Yahoo ended up having to rebuild the account because none of the usual fixes worked (new passwords generated all around).
Thank you.

First, cox.net is no longer Cox's domain. They sold it to yahoo. Cox doesn't have anything to do with email other then delivery the traffic like all the other internet traffic. Been like that for several years. Didn't you have to go through the whole transfer process?
https://www.cox.com/residential/support/coxnet-email-transitioning-to-yahoo.html
That is why CCC(same as CTC?) is probably not able to help as Cox email isn't Cox anymore and CCC/CTC are probably outsourced Plumchoice rep or something. Your best bet will be the Yahoo forum or support, although they upsell support too.
Can you login at Yahoo website? Can you send/receive, both to you and other, there? Are you using Outlook client or website? If client, which? Do other email providers work with that client? What happened 3.5 hours before posting? What was the exact error? My guess is you have to set up a new app password, delete the old one from Outlook, and enter the new one in but can't say for sure without seeing the error/data.
