COX Modem
I have a COX modem.
- It said on their original offer that they would update my hardware every few years. I went to the COX shop and asked for a new modem and they gave me an old one with bits rattling in the case. I turned it down. (The modem I have is 6 years old.)
Is there in fact updated hardware?
2. If I buy a modem will they stop charging me rental fees?

This is certainly not the experience we want you to have. Customers are welcome to exchange/update their equipment at any time. It is indeed upsetting to learn we attempted to issue you damaged equipment. The rental devices are refurbished, yet if you wish to purchase a modem, you will receive a brand new, unused device. The purchase of a modem would eliminate the monthly rental fee.
If your modem is six years old, there are definitely newer options for rental, depending on your current service level. Please feel free to email us at cox.help@cox.com with your account details, and we would be happy to review your options.
