Cox Connect Assist - Is This A Scam?

I would like to hear some feedback from those who use the Cox Connect Assist Plan. If you are currently on this plan how was your experience signing up and what has your experience been with being billed each month?

Three months ago I went into a Cox store to inquire about their internet service. I wanted internet only. They showed me some different plans - none of which were affordable to me. I thanked the sales person for their time and went to leave and as I'm leaving he tells me that I can get a basic level of internet service if I am eligible for the Connect Assist Plan. Upon talking further about the plan's requirements I am told that I meet the criteria to sign up for this plan. I provided all the information needed and had the documents they needed to see and got everything set up there in the store. The salesperson told me that I would be billed later and I should expect the bill to be around $30 since I am doing the Connect Assist Plan.

When the first bill arrived, I was suprised to see that I was being billed for $75. I immediately contacted the customer service billing department who told me that my first bill may be a bit higher since the service is new and had to be set up. I was told that my next bill should reflect the reduced rate. This turned out to be untrue. The second bill arrives for the second month of service and this is the same $75 price. I contact customer service again to ask why the bill is much higher than I was told it would be. The customer service agent told me that they did not have me listed under the connect assist plan and advised me to fill out my info online. Assuming I'm approved, then my next bill will show as $30. So I go ahead and pay the second bill but now they are trying to charge me again a completely different rate than what was promised. I contacted customer service again and they confirmed they have my application but it is waiting to be approved now.

It seems like every time I contact the cox customer service it is at minimum and 45 minute ordeal. The speed in which they reply to even the most basic messages is excruciatingly slow. They are unable to provide me with any answers as to why I am being billed incorrectly they just tell me to check my email for an email update on on the status of this. So far I have seen zero emails from cox I am beginning to feel very uneasy that is a scam due to all the runaround and lack of assistance in resolving my problem. I feel like this is a bait and switch deal and they are hoping that I will elect to put my billing payments on automatic then not see that I am being overcharged. I would like to hear from others who have attemped to use this plan. How reliable was it?
