Wireless Signal Issues
Hey there Forums!
I didn't feel like sitting on the phone for customer service, so I figured I'd give this a shot. Been having issues for about the last week or so, but got worse today. My PC is plugged into my router/modem via ethernet and has not had any outages, however signal to any wireless device has been cutting in and out. My cell phone would swap from 4G to my wireless constantly. Today, however, my devices don't even pick up the signal at all; can't detect it. Bit frustrating when I can netflix fine on my PC, but go to the room over and can't get anything to load at all on a playstation/tablet/cell phone.
Insight is appreciates, thanks!

Cisco DPC3825 is my router/modem. Which after a quick search and finding terrible reviews, I think I may just need to get a new router. It was the one that was provided when I first got my place hooked up, should have known to do my own research on routers.
Unless anyone thinks its not a router issue? Leaning strongly towards that.

Gateways are junk IMO. Go with a separate modem and router. As for suggestions; do you need Wifi AC and what is your general price range?

around 100$ seems to be reasonable, unless I do go for a separate router / modem. Any decent one you would suggest? And unsure about the wifi AC -- way to check to see if i need it? Thanks for the response.

You may not need wireless-AC now but you probably will benefit from upgrading to it sooner or later as you purchase new wireless devices. $100 as of now probably won't go very far in the wireless-AC router family. AC routers aren't very useful unless they have all gigabit Ethernet ports and that typically puts you over the $100 price point.

If you were looking for a gateway for around 100$, check out the Netgear CG4500BD. Still a gateway and doesn't have external antenna, but I have seen the least amount of complaints for that model, so take that with a grain of salt.
Can you trade the gateway in for a stand alone modem? If so, might want to look into a refurbished RT-N66U for around 90$ on Newegg, but be prepared to possibly have to reflash the firmware.
As for if you use AC, what kind of devices do you have? A device would have to be only 1-2 years old to have AC, so you probably don't have many devices with it. It would be good to future proof yourself, but your probably looking at 50-100$ extra for Wifi AC over Wifi N.
