Wireless Connectivity Even When Disabled

Apologies, if this doesn't belong here. But, since it is a connectivity issue, I figured, why not?

Even though my laptop's Bluetooth and Wireless Connectivity is disabled, as is my SmartPhones', all of my Bookmarks automatically transferred to my new laptop. And, when I deleted them from my laptop, they were deleted from my phone.

The only thing that I can think of is that my phone was in very close proximity to my laptop, as I was configuring it.

Was that the problem?

It sounds like what you're describing is Chrome's bookmark sync which is normal behavior.  If you have an Android phone you're naturally always signed into it and if you're signed into Chrome on your desktop changes you make to bookmarks will sync to all other Chrome devices you're sign into.  This is done over the Internet therefore the devices do not need to be connected to together for this to happen so long as each device has a connection to the Internet.

Hi again, Tony.  Firefox, Chrome, IE on Windows 8 & 10 and Edge can sync their setting using the cloud.  What browser are you using?  Are you using Windows, what version?

My guess is your changes were sent to the cloud then synced back to your other system when it was connected.  I doubt it was because they were in close proximity.

Hello again, Allen.

I think I just discovered what happened. But, to answer your questions first:

For general stuff on my desktop, I use FireFox. But, when I used to pay bills on it, I use Chrome; uses Windows 7. I also use Norton's on-line backup. But, only for certain files, including Bookmarks (ah, maybe this was what did it, when I downloaded Norton on to my laptop?). Also, I have GoogleDrive on it.

For Finances, I have dedicated the laptop for this only. It uses Windows 8.1. Norton 360 is on it, but not GoogleDrive.

My SmartPhone uses the latest Android version with Avast AV. For Internet, I use it mainly for searches and a few on-line games.

When I deleted the unnecessary Bookmarks from my laptop (unfortunately, I over-deleted it), it deleted the Bookmarks from my Cell. And, I believe that some Bookmarks were deleted from my desktop, even though it was off.

I really think that this stuff being done automatically and without approval really **. Of course, now it's a bit late. Unless, I restore the Backup of Norton on both PCs.

Thanks.

Well, that's still the pits.

Anyway to turn it off?

Or, what about re-sync it? So, I can get my required bookmarks and just delete those that I don't need from my laptop.

As I said, it's already too late for my cell and laptop. But luckily, my Chrome on my desktop was not effected (I was looking at by bookmarks in FF, which are not current).

I'm gonna mark this topic as Answered since it has addressed the key issue.

To get a correct answer to that you'd probably have to take this question to Google.  Being a Chrome and Android user myself I find it easier to organize bookmarks into folders and just not use them on the devices you don't want to.
