wifi hotspot set up
- Tap Scan to search for available networks.
- Tap CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium /CableWiFi from list of available networks.
- Launch your Internet browser.
when I do this there is not CoxWiFi / CoxWiFi_premium /CableWiFi in my list of available networks?
Can you tell me how to add this to my connections manually?

You have to be in a Cox WiFi Hotspot to see a Cox network.
To see a list of networks, go to https://www.cox.com/aboutus/wifi-hotspot-map.html and enter your zip.

Just to be clear, are you at home trying to connect to wifi? If so, you want to look for your router and the network it is broadcasting.

The range on one of these hotspots is similar that of your typical home router. With that in mind an area ranging from 1000-1500sq/ft. should have decent coverage.

Chris, the range has to be greater than that. 1000-1500 sq-ft translates to circular areas only 18 to 22 ft in radius from the antenna. Outdoors, with no obstructions, you should get 300 ft or more with wireless n. Indoors, the range will be much shorted due to walls and other obstructions. You should get 50-100 ft or more indoors but YMMV.

I don't know what AP's they use at Cox, but here is a typical one, with 33dBm @ 10dBi = 43dB transmit power. Then see here for a dB to range calculator, fill in with your wifi antenna sensitivity and other info. Won't be accurate, but should give you some idea.
