WiFi connection problems
For the last month or two I have been experiencing an increased frequency of what I would describe as WiFi dropout. I'll be working on my MacBook Pro and then all of sudden it is disconnected from the Wifi. Sometimes if I wait, it will reconnect. Other times I have to reset the modem. I'm using a Cisco DPC3825 (rented from Cox). This happens at least daily, and sometimes it can happen multiple times in an hour. I use this same MacBook Pro when I'm at work and never experience this problem.
It doesn't just affect my MacBook Pro. It affects my Samsung television, which becomes disconnected and which I have to then reconnect. It also affects the new LinkSys Wifi extender that the Cox (Jaguar) technician who came out last week recommended would solve my problem. As I already knew and the technician confirmed my signal strength is good.
So why would I get frequent dropout? This dropout occurs when I'm working within just three feet from the Cisco. I don't have any other wireless devices in the house --- no landline, no baby monitors, etc. Help!!!! What tests can I run? This modem doesn't have a way for me to check a log of its connection history. That would seem to be the most informative piece of data I need.

Do you have any wired devices? If so, do they also drop?
Also, when you disconnect from the network, can you still see the network when you look at wireless networks around you? If you can see it, can you connect or is that what you need to reboot for?
Last, are there a lot of other wireless networks around you?

I don't have any wired devices. I'll connect my laptop via ethernet cable and leave it there overnight to see if it happens again.
I can usually still see the network when I disconnect from it.
I can see one other wireless network right now, but sometimes there are a couple more. All have weaker signal than my home network.
Thanks!

I hooked my laptop up to the modem via an ethernet cable. The internet was dropped, and I had to unplug the modem to reset it.

Does anyone know the web address to cox that allows you to change the channel? I was walked through this procedure about a month ago with a CS rep and we ended up changing the channel and solved our wifi disconnect issue for the time being. Its now doing the same thing all over again. I did not bookmark the address as I thought this was going to solve my issue once and for all. Wrong and frustrated!

It depends on the brand of your router. Try 192.168.100.1

That model gateway doesn't show modem logs, so if your looking wired connection, Cox needs to look at the connection and make sure it's stable.
What are your signal levels though? Should find them at 192.168.0.1
